What car are you using?

I always and only play Career.

I start with Caterham to make it challenging, obviously haven't got on the podium yet but i notice the understeer is dreadful, even with high downforce its really poor.

I tried a "Grand Prix" Race with Mercedes to see if i was just s**t and well, i finished with +34secs ahead of 2nd place and the steering on the AMG was perfect. So, may be the car you use.

Just a suggestion

Throw away that console crap controller and get a wheel. If you are into racing you will not regret it.

Get a wheel and don't use assists, you won't regret it.

And if you get a wheel, don't sell it to pay for bills. I regret doing that, but now I'm stuck with a controller as well.

The cars have less aero grip than they did last year, so pretty much everything will feel understeery compared to 2013. It's also a lot easier to spin the wheels this year.

I noticed that in tight hairpins you can turn way tighter by giving a little more gas than you think you should, it'll light up the rears and push your nose around a bit. Bad on tires tho.

I use a gamepad (for when I cba setting my wheel up for a quick session), and I solved the steering limitations and general issues by going into the in-game controller config, changing the option to "custom", and setting the override input to "gamepad". From there, you can go into "Advanced Wheel Settings" (even though a pad is being used) to refine saturation, deadzone, etc.
