F1 2014
Custom Gamepad Settings
Right, I've had a play, and I've got the gamepad feeling nice!

Go into Options > Driving controls, and set Controller Config to "Custom".

Once you've done that, change Override Input Device Type to "Gamepad".

Then, go into "Advanced Wheel Settings".

I've left everything at 0%, but for these options:

Steering Deadzone: 10.00%
Steering Saturation: 60%

Unfortunately, there are still subtle assists present. However, it no longer takes AGES to change direction! Hooray :D

Let me know if this helped, and share with us your own custom config if you think you have better! This is just a quick test set-up.

I don't know if it's useful here, but there's an app called duranzo with which you can set up controller linearity and anti-deadzones too.

I haven't set up controller in this game so they may be redundant...

Will the software override in-game settings, or just provide a platform to work from?

I realise now that my in-game config may not be suitable to all, because I guess it depends on software like you just mentioned, or maybe just how Windows has calibrated the gamepad.
My understanding is that it works as a layer between controller and game, so they should be additive configs.

But can't be sure sorry, I've only used on games which have no controller advanced config
I think I'm too used to the default settings now, I find this a bit twitchy.

Have a play around with the settings mate - adjust them to your own preference. Like I said to Plague above, you may have different calibration settings from me.
Hi!
I would ask for help; I don't know if my pedals doesnt't work correctly or If it is a game that works in this way.
My throttle pedal is not sensible; To obtain the minimum power I have to push the accelerator pedal down half. Before the car is not moving.
I set the Throttle Deadzone 0%
It 's normal? They are the new turbo or my pedal does not work?
Thanks
Thanks. I'll try those settings and see if I lose the understeer on my controller.

Edit: tested at the tight and twisty Hungary track - works like a charm! Thank you for sharing!

I have exactyl the same problem with my Thrustmaster F430 FFB. The first 50% of pressing my throttle pedal doesn't do anything. So I only have thrttling power from 50-100%. With this loads of Torque this year it's almost impossible to get traction out of a corner without a very very slippery car.

I only have this problem in F1 2014. Every other game it works and also in my Thrustmaster Panel in Windows my Throttling Pedal works just fine.

Anyone have an idea how to fix this? Loore perhaps?
I tried this out when I first got the game, as driving on monaco is a serious pain with the controller.

I set the dead zone to about 10%

I couldn't get the twitchiness out though. I tried steering saturation 0% and 100%, as well as linearity on 0% and 100%.

I could sort of drive with saturation at 0% and linearity at 100% but turning up saturation any higher than zero made it uncontrollable, like any amount of input immediately put me to full lock. Felt like I was driving with a keyboard, not an analog stick.

I could have twitchy hands maybe, but it seems to me like I'd need a completely custom analog curve before I override the game pad settings. Interestingly I was pretty quick in F1 2011 when I did this, and I could control the car pretty well. Here in 2014 though I'm bouncing off walls on straights.

Johnrob, see the top quote in this reply. Plague_Dog mentions an app which allows you to further customise gamepad settings beyond standard windows calibration. I haven't yet tried it myself, but it could be worth a shot.

I may try it to amend throttle and brake sensitivity on the triggers, if possible, because the in-game settings, even when on override, doesn't seem to better the sensitivity.

Car this year has way tooo much understeer. It's realistic though, because of the fact that diffuser has been removed. I found that adjusting wheel settings would help a ton. The delay between your controller/wheel and the car is now crucial
@BEAR

Doing your settings just made me a goldmedal at Austria time attack.

Cheers for sharing.

I think that's a general problem when overriding the settings, mate. I tried calibrating my device again with windows, but it still does the same.
