Very small download footprint
Not saying there's anything to it, but this is the smallest Codemaster's F1 title since the first in 2010 by anywhere from 1GB to 4GB.

I've not heard a lot about what's in this version, is it just the same gamemodes as previously?

The download will currently be in a compressed state. It will decompress when the game is released.

That's true, but what I'm saying is that at its fullest, it will be the smallest F1 title in the Codemasters' series. Compressed it's 2.9GB, full size is just over 6GB, nearest smallest was 7GB all the way up to 10GB+.

I believe that F1 2013 was smaller than F1 2012, despite the extra content. This is only speculation but perhaps the latest EGO engine (debuted with GRID 2 I think, so 2013 was the first F1 game to use it I think) has attributed to the smaller downloads.

As to the gamemodes, it's 2013 with the new rules/cars and without the classics.

F1 2013 is showing 8.6GB on my system. I would expect F1 2014 to be a similar size.

so the preload people here have luck?

Just checked it out. There's the Young Driver test missing and I think one other, haven't had time to properly compare. Even just the menu really makes this look like a barebones experience, they're probably putting most of their effort into the new engine and this was just the contracted annual sequel they had to release.

And I feel so sorry for the actual drivers, these cars sound even worse from the inside.

Wow, this is a disgrace, this is purely filler for this year while they work on next year's next-gen title.

Career mode is wide open, join whatever team you like for a 6, 12 or the full 19 race season. That's it. There's scenario mode, time attack, hot laps, driver evaluation and that's about it.

Incredibly disappointed, so far I'm still wishing I'd just stopped and been satisfied with F1 2012.

I think they should up te texture if the game is that small. I feel a tad bit offended to pay a full price game with such small footprint.

So you're mad because the game doesn't take up enough hard drive space? That has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on here. Wait until the game comes out at least to start complaining. Geezus........

CM are contractually obliged to release a game every year.
Most of their development effort has been on next years game, for the new consoles.

The Birmingham studio is also quite small by modern standards.

So, ive read complaints the game is terrible, you people will stop at nothing to bash someone. Im quiet please its smaller. This way i dont have to buy a hard drive for one game, unless you prefer the EA way of 1 hard drive 1 game... next ull complain that its just rubbish all around. Morons... Complete morons... if i had 6 thumbs id give every f1 game 6 thumbs. If you think you could have done better make your own game... as big as you want.. just remember smaller files mean smaller load times = better performance over all. but hell if you want that "get up grab a drink and microwave dinner" load time just go buy a ps3 n gran turismo 6. your probably the same guy who wrecks everyone on hte last lap of 100% legend. but hey who am i to judge... i have 300+ hours of single player in 2013 cuz it was so rubbish...

so what i gather is. your would spend full price on a 30 gig game like bf3 and the likes (which you then have to pay another full price to get the other 3/4 of your game) and waste a ton of drive space instead of having an amazing game that load fast runs smooth and is fun. besides who the hell looks at anything but the road while playing htis game.. they could make everything 8bit but hte road and i could care less... people spend 20 bucks on minecraft and its a ♥♥♥♥ game... your argument is invalid please dont reproduce in this lifetime.

bullocks no you wouldnt you would have complained about codemasters making a crap game.. do realize there is about 400 people in the world who actually like f1 enough to buy a game an play it maybe they realized its not a huge captial gain so they made somoehting to appease us while making games like GRID autosport who hits a broader audience.. because f1 is almost undrivable without a wheel, unless you want to chew through fuel and tires in 3 laps time...
