Recommended character to use?

I started off with Daredevil and unlocked Deadpool with the random hero unlock. Yesterday I got another random hero unlock but got Deadpool again.

This really disappointed me since all that time playing and collecting splinters was for nothing. So now I'm thinking about just buying someone to try out. Any ideas?

I liked Daredevil but he is super plain and got boring and monotonous real quick. Having a lot more fun with Deadpool. Don't know if I should go with a ranged or melee character next. Been thinking about Cable.

Cable is great, he is very versatile, so you can´t go wrong with him, at least if ranged is what you like to play in these kind of games.

If you are interested in melee: Wolverine, Hulk and Ms. Marvel are great choices. Thor is also amazing (he also has some ranged skills).

PS: are you sure you haven´t accidently bought the "token upgrade" (200 Splinters, means same hero again to upgrade your ultimate power), because if you only have 2 heroes, there is a high chance to get another hero with "random hero" (175 Splinters), but it could be that it just was a really unlucky pick.

If you want to totally dominate, go with Hulk or Thor. Hulk is just beast mode right now. Not only does he do crazy damage, he also can take a lot as well. Very fun champ to play IMO. I don't have Thor, but general consensus is it's pretty much Thor and Hulk as the two most dominant. Human Torch is really good and fun, Cable is awesome and top tier and Emma looks like she's going to be pretty fun as well.

No, I'm sure. It was just a case of real bad luck. As soon as I got 175 splinters I bought a random hero unlock and got deadpool. so I had to build up the splinter count from zero to 175 again. Only to get deadpool again. No way I accidentally could have bought anything that cost over 175 splinters.

So I guess it's between Cable and The Hulk for me right now. decisions, decisions.

Hulk is one of my favorite characters in the marvel universe, so my opinion might be slightly biased, but if it´s between those two characters, go for the green one. He is easy to play and feels really powerful (sound, animation, voice, skills) and he also is

But take into account that the new patch is right around the corner, so it is possible that hulk gets some adjustments (but that can happen to all the heroes, so it doesn´t really matter)

I would wait a couple days or at least until tomorrow since the new patch is suppose to be released tomorrow. I've heard mixed opinions on how hulk will be after the patch. Some say he's getting nerfed, while others are saying he will get even tankier.

Also, has there ever been hero sales in the in-game store? Maybe I should hold on to my money and snag a hero or two at a discount.

I agree with this, go with Thor. He's fun to use and you can either turn him into a melee powerhouse or go with ranged lightning attacks.

@Vitus: yes, there have been different sales before, the discount and heroes affected varied from sale to sale. It is possible that new sales will occur in the future (maybe with release of 1.2?) and don´t forget that you can buy hero packs and other packs on their store (website), normally those packs are discounted even more and you get more for your money, not sure about payment options though, because I never bought anything there

Before you finally decide which hero, watch some gameplay footage from the heroes you are interested in, because playstyle really matters

The upcoming patch 1.2 might change things quite a bit. But for now, you can't go wrong with Hulk or Thor.

If you like ranged, Daka-Daka Black Widow is one I really like. Basically, get Stinging Barrage. Then get all the damage passives, and the spirit regen passive. Get a couple items with -8% spirit cost for Weaponry. Stack crit/crit damge. Add the Artifact that lets you spawn a purple orb.

Infinite Daka-Daka. (1.2 gave a large buff to this build. Even before that though, I still liked it.)

Also, if you think DD is boring, try a movement power build. The dodge build does get a little "just hold left click until it dies". (Dodge Black Widow can get that way too.)

I was enjoying Rocket Raccoon as his guns and turret are nice, but Emma Frost was just released and she's AWESOME! Tanking tree, mental blast tree, and pet/crowd control tree contain her powers. I am a diamond tank punching foes to death while my newest slave DPSes the foes alongside me. :) I love her!

I am quite happy with Hawkeye when playing but usually team up with someone who is more close range to even it out!

If you want to try an AOE ranged hero, Human Torch is the best. For melee, I really like Wolverine, and for a mix of ranged/melee Spidey or Ms Marvel are great.
