Marvel Heroes VS DCUO. What are your thoughts?
I love superhero games, and Marvel was actually my preferred comic book drug of choice (until DC released the new 52, which ROCK).

So I wanted to try out Marvel Heroes. I even bought a starter pack.

While the game has potential, I don't think it quite lives up to the legacy of the people that brought us Sipedrman, Iron Man, and The Hulk.

The first bone I have to pick is the story. While it started out good, it quickly went downhill. Also - why are there so few voice overs? DCUO has full voice over from great actors like Mark Hamill, Adam Baldwin, James Marsters, and Gina Torres.

My second issue is that the combat and skill tree/progression are also very repetitive. This game makes Diablo 3 look wonderful. Nothing much to say here. In this day and age, I want something other than a few trees to go through and crappy skills to unlock. While there are some iconic skills included, where is the epickly cool stuff? Why can't Spiderman make a shield out of web? Or hell why can't he just web someone entirely into a cocoon. Why can't I swing from rooftops for that matter? Swinging looks like gimp jumping ATM.

My third biggest issues will probably be number one for a lot of people. There is NO character customization. I can't make my own hero, I can't even rename one to whatever I want! What the hell is this?

My fourth concern is how money grubbing this game is. Items don't stack. Having multiple crafting materials of the same exact type takes up multiple inventory slots. Finding a hero doesn't unlock their personal bank space! I could go on and on, but don't see the point of doing so. The cash shop in this game is actually worse than the disaster that is Neverwinter.

My fifth issue is all the bugs. Once again I can't help but compare this game to Neverwinter, which I thought was the buggiest game in existence - until I played this.

As a bonus, does anyone else think the balance in this game is a joke? Out of the 4 heroes I tried, Cyclops was by far the most powerful. Its like the dev's don't actually care about this universe.

All in all, while I really wanted to like Marvel Heroes, I am going back to DCUO. Even though I have played through and maxed multiple characters, it still has more replay value than this monotonous grind.

I will come back at a later time, but will not be touching this one for months to come.

Have fun all, not trying to flame or hate. Just doing a straight up comparison to another comic based game that is far superior to this one - in every aspect.

I found DCUO to be an unplayable bad PS3 port that is run by the worst company in MMO gaming - SoE. It struggled to hold my attention through the tutorial so i abanoned it shortly thereafter.

I was sad - I adore DC much more than Marvel.

kind of. In DC you cant play as Robin. You can make a character like Robin...but you arent Robin.

Uncomparable

both are different but.. I like Marvel more than DC, plus SOE has left me a bad taste in the mouth with some of their other franchises.

Im pretty sure that updates are going be coming out that will fix various bugs and whatnot. Remember this is a MMO and every MMO starts out rocky and over time gets better

I played DCUO through the beta and after and this game through the beta and I have to say I'm enjoying this a lot more. DCUO seemed to be a bunch of "collect this many items" and "defeat this many enemies" missions that I despise in MMO's.

People comparing two differnt game styles(playstyles)? LOL.

DCUO is a MMO where Marvel Heroes is not. Stop comparing apples to oranges.

I was in closed beta testing, couldn't handle the lag and chop-i-ness. Giving it a try now.

I dont need to compare both but I can say what I like more:
DCUO is my fav cause I like be creative and create new heroes with an own soul!!
Fighting 3rd person and flying around is so great too it doesnt matter the DC cause I could also create Miss Fortune from League of Legends! Unlimited Heroes for free :)
I hope for a DCUO 2!!!!

DCUO is more ambitious, but it's the bigger fail because of it. This game's more casual, but also more fun. I found DCUO to be an incredible snooze.

The aren't even the same genre. That's like compairing WoW to Diablo.

And seriously? It makes sense if Cyclops is powerful. He shoots ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lasers out of his eyes.

♥♥♥♥ I have so much to say. DC Universe Online let's you create your own hero because it actually it implies UNIVERSE, which in turn means there are heroes not mentioned in the comics. Now, Marvel Heroes is called, MARVEL HEROES. They want the real guys. Not some scrubby guy that gets captured and has to be saved by an AI.

Well to be fair this was previously called Marvel Universe.

Lol that was pretty good. You actually made me snort up some Mountain Dew. Went right through the nose. Oh man. I can still taste/smell the raspberry.

No way should Cyclops be more powerful than Storm, who is an Omega level mutant (along with Iceman and Phoenix + a few others). Cyclops is pretty low tier compared to her.

Being a huge Marvel fan, that is just a slap in the face.
