What's new in 2024?

I stopped playing years ago and just remembered this was in my library.

New, for Marvel Heroes? Nothing. And there never will be anything new for the game ever again (because that would require an IP license from Disney, and a license from the current owner of the game's copyright -- and nobody can afford that).

But there's been some significant progress on a custom-made private server. Many heroes are playable. There's combat, basic enemies, some bosses, many abilities work, loot, etc. But there are also systems that are still in progress, like quests and raids.

PRIVATE server. Which is not OFFICIAL, but made by FANS. Let's ask DEVELOPERS if they RUN THEIR servers? How's that for death definition?

Game works again. Google it. Youtube. Search. Slowly but surely put back together. You can play the whole story mode at the moment!

Answer me this - did it NOT die at one POINT? Is it also OFFICIAL release? Do I need to snap fingers in front of your eyes? You feeling alright there? Because FANS of the game make a "pirate/illegal/NON-AUTHORIZED" server doesn't mean that OFFICIALLY, game LIVED. It stopped being supported by DEVELOPERS.

Silver. You can still download the game legitimately via steam. Then you can use an emulator to run it. The company that ran the game got screwed over in multiple ways (like having a braindead, sex offender, *interim* CEO) and the devs were unceremoniously locked out. Gazillion shut down weeks before the date the employees were given.

My point is both the fans and the devs should be perfectly fine with this. It's abandon-ware. You've got no reason to fuss and the people working on the emulator are doing god's work- so let's maybe not ♥♥♥♥ on it.

I'm not sh*tting on FANS. I'm saying that there WAS, and likely is right NOW, a period, where the game is dead.

Actually, you know what? Game's dead, period. Because OFFICIAL developers stopped the servers. We are getting a cobbled replacement from very smart people, who managed to make it work without official support or code.

Back on subject: played some tahiti the other night and it's coming along great. Is as easy as putting a launch parameter into the game's properties on steam.

Apparently they already working on conditions so all powers will probably be operational in the next iteration 0.5.0 that includes summons...so it's getting there and it's awesome!
