The real issue is the AI as they will have to Code it from the Ground Up, and thats going to take a while. I wish them all the best, but we are a loooong ways from it being even close to playable.
The biggest hurdle to a Project this Big will be keeping the Team together. If people leave, they leave behind the knowledge of their Code and how it works. As you bring New Coders on to try and add to it you get a Spaghetti Code that can cause all sorts of issues going forward. If they can keep the same Team long enough to get the AI into Working Order then they will encounter much less issues going forward.
Actually, from their dev logs, it appears a fair bit the AI routines that enemies use is baked into the game's client. They don't need to recreate anywhere near as much as it at first seemed. Now, how well the more complex AI controls -- like raid bosses -- will match the original game is still up in the air. But they've got some bosses working. Like Hyde and his barrels (interesting tidbit: Hyde doesn't decide to throw barrels; the barrels override his standard AI and command him to throw them at the player).
Unless you had the Game on Steam before it was Shut Down you cannot Download the Launcher, and currently that is the only way I am aware of to get it.
