Did anyone else notice that you can download this from Steam store from the library as of July 2021? I think that was not the case in 2018-2020. Are there currently plans to bring it back? Can you at least use this install and play on a "private" server? If so, can someone share where etc thanks

update: steam made it so f2p appear in your libary. still around or not
as i said earlier the files were mostly on the server without those you cant reproduce the game, thats why mostly all people can do is bootup and watch the videos

so i wont lie and say have hope, as they have moved on, they have begun working on new projects.

which stinks, like shin megami tensi online, that one was the first ever online for the series.
or even first multiplayer, they made a mobile one now, but its far from an mmorpg
ghost in the shell was short lived never even got to try it, even though i had owned it

it makes no sense to bring back old games. they were shut-down for reasons, mostly financial. so if something failed in the past already, chances are low that anyone would take a risk with a failed game.

uuh nope, this one was closed for other reasons (mostly licensing and Disney interest in centralizing ownership).

That's a pretty bad example because smt imagine HAS a private server and you can play it right now, so even games you thought were gone managed to come back.

shin megami tensi online, i researched in the past, it was a CD based game in japan? i think was.
then it came over too usa via another company as a digital download.
which means probaly most of the files were located on the CD.

i know it was CD based as i looked into it once i found out it was a thing.
then it finnaly came to the west.

i know some games come back, some company bought hellgate london, made servers for it.
and then sp was released on steam, phantasy star online from dreamcast days has servers.

retro fusionfall was based on CN fusionfall, the files were gifted via cartoon network with blessings.
till someone told a lie and got it shutdown.

ive heard city of heros has private servers, another CD based.
ik cause saw it in store before everything switched to digital.


there is always the chance of games returning, but some require alot of hard work and alot of time, were as in some have everything on the CD, or patches online.
old days when patches had to be downloaded from online, not a client.

few words, mmorpgs are everywhere, they made there money and disney now owns marvel, which decided to kill off all of the older games.
so a reboot being possible, but various changes would be made.
as it would be a new game, not a full on reboot, plus alot of work would be needed to be done, new content that would bring in new fans and new money.
since majority who played the orignal start to end got there fill, and repeating the same missions once you have everyone, and done everything gets old.

i use to play a few marvel f2ps, then they shut em all down, even one that was a beta... tactics or something...
we should have hope, but also remember there out to make money, so theres more money in something new v.s old
also if a reboot came, it would be a paid thing, thats if they saw money to be made.
as sadly we are but sheep with money in most companies eyes.

which is why its said, unless theres money to be made, it wont happen.
and this game had its run, it had its peak, so any repeat of it would net less money sadly.

as for the other remakes/reboots, those are usually sp/mp standalones
this was a server based game, which sadly come and go.

ive fallen into a few f2p mmorpgs that sadly died off on me and never returned....

all in all be glad it was made and had a long run as...
