When you get there you should see the option to "Retire". Then they'll take everything you did and give you your score basically.

Wow...that seems kinda stupid,I just thought they would give me another mission or something. Thanks anyway!

Yeah I've had this game for almost a year now and my feelings are rather the same, I actually got it because it was one of the inspirations for FTL. But after playing a few games I looked it up and checked out some forums and found out that it's basically how the game works and how it was specifically designed. It was actually created to kill 15-20 minutes, a large percentage of it's original fan base played it for that, like during coffee breaks at work etc. Then you try to beat your last score, then that score, then that score etc.

When you look at it that way, the way the developers originally intended you see it in a different light. I guess the only problem for me (I still only have about 3 hours on it) is that I'm just one of the many, many gamers who really don't need to kill 15-20 minutes, more like 5 minutes or a couple of hours so it's hard to fit it into the schedule you know?

I still keep it on the hard drive though, I remember playing it about a month ago for example in windowed mode while I typed up a job application. Anyway hope you consider giving it another try sometime, enjoy!

So this is some mobile game, I heard they are making a real game out of this, is it on steam yet?

Hey there Shrapnel, no it's a desktop game. It was ported to mobile if I recall several years later but it was actually a desktop game first back in 2005, then they ported it to the iPad I think.

The new game they're making is like a 3D version of this, it's called Infinite Space III: Sea of Stars and is already on Steam. It's still in early access though. Here's the link

It's not bad, but I'd wait for the reviews after release before buying it myself.

well thats the thing, the reviews look bad ha, I've been eyeing this for a while.
And hence my dilemma and frustration with DF: There is nothing out there quite like SpaceBase
Even in its simple unfinished state, its pretty much exactly what I was looking for:
Randoms stopping in with their own personalities/traits for different assignments on the station
a slow but steady DIY base you can build from the resources around you
different skills and professions to tweak
most importantly: The base is the main character. and everything is is there to make it better

Cant tell you how many times raiders have come in and wiped me out or a fire gets too out of control during the low staff days or I simply run out of air and people die: As long as I have a refinery up...I'm good! I reload maps until I get a sweet position between or surrounded by asteroids and ...ah wth, who cares this is a dead game

I've actually got the new one and it's ok. I think it could definitely be good when it's finished but I I think checking the reviews again at release is the way to go. Hey a week after it's released I'll try to remember to post into this discussion.

You know a game I played years ago (that isn't on Steam unfortunately) called Space Colony is the only one I can think of that even come close to DF. A little while ago when I was looking for Space Colony on Steam I came across another game that's in early access called Cosmonautica. It's more centred towards "ship and crew management" rather than "base and crew management". Who knows maybe that one might end up being pretty good.
