Pumpkin farming?

Are pumpkins bugged, or just intended to be really rare? Last night we got to the first couple of planets with them (in local co-op), and the first day there would be several, the second and third day might have a few, and then after that we never saw another one. The vines are there, but never seem to produce more, or if they do, they roll off into some corner of the map and we never see them. I even tried to blocking off an area to see if that's what was happening, but no pumpkins appeared.

It feels really unlikely to me that they were intended to be this rare, since on Day 1 I have spotted up to a dozen of them, and then they quickly drop to 1-2 then to 0. Nothing else seems to match that pattern.

To me it's the same as the Bi...sausage? You see a few of em then when they're gone, they're gone ...

The Kabochasers (pumpkins) are actually creatures, so they follow the nest animal rules. The vines are they grow on are their nests, so if those are destroyed, that's it. They look really similar to the regular vines, so be careful! Also, like the other nesting creatures they need some plants nearby for food or they'll eventually starve and die out. This, plus them returning to the nest at the end of day, can make them seem even rarer. Kakoi is a good stage if you want to have too many to deal with lol.

The Bisausage are indeed limited to what's initially there. Use them wisely...

Ah, that's interesting! I'll try to make sure I keep some food close to their nests in the future and see if that helps. Not sure if we're at Kakoi yet or not, will have to check. We're just working on completing every recipe, and the Pumpkins so far had been frustrating due to the low numbers of them.

They definitely stop spawning. Plenty of food around them. I thought that maybe something bugged out and was going to try to restart the map, so I quit and restarted but forgot to reset it. So I came back to the pumpkin vines and they were there. So, try quiting and reloading the day. Also, thorn flowers seem to not be destructable until after a reload.

For me they are bugged. Three days and they're gone.

Yeah, I'm experimenting with them as well right now, and they do seem to be a short term resource. Very disappointing.
