The game doesn't start (resolved)
I bought Alien breed trilogy.

All 3 games don't start. I can play hundreds of games on steam, so I think it's a problem of these games.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

EDIT: Tempusfugit78 found the solution to the problem. Post no.28, page 2 of this thread. All 3 games work now.

Have you tried installing the physx legacy driver from Nvidia? On some games this can be an issue:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.1031-legacy-driver.html
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.13.0604-legacy-driver.html

Navigate to the Nvidia Physx\common directory on your O.S Drive and copy the contents of it into the game Binaries folder and that will probably fix it as this is what it was telling me was the problem even though I had The legacy physx installed on my Win 7 x64 machine You Might Have to do it for all the Alien Breed Games as 2 was telling me this was the problem as well.

I don't have the Nvidia physx/common directory. Where can I find it?

It should be in your program files\nvidia or program files (x86) directory If not then download physx system software from nvidia as mentioned by Bibo1 and dagr above then install but still copy files over as the games seem to be missing a file. Also if Anyone is interested in another workaround see this this post: http://steamcommunity.com/app/22610/discussions/2/613936039400607886/ and check your ini files.

seriously, dev should make an update for this game to fix this missing file..

Not working here either, all that happens is a Windows error msg saying the game's exe has stopped working (problem is, I never saw it 'start' working!) Impact. Win7-64 (nVidia cards/plenty ram etc... easily meet requirements). Going to do some tinkering. I realize when the games were released initially, Steam didn't have a refund policy, but they do now. Think about it devs. In the short term, guess I can go back to Alien Swarm.

Not sure if you're still having this problem or not, but you can go into the steamapps/common/alien breed impact/binaris/windows folder and run the UE3redist installer and instal the game engine manually. hope that helps.
Well, today my version also stopped working (it froze during the start). So I tried to run this file and it actually removed the engine (so it still didn't run). No harm in running this file again I figured and this time it re-installed the engine. And yes, the game is running again!
Maybe another game that uses the UE3 engine messed it up? I'll see if I can find out as I didn't install that many games after Alien Breed...

Glad to hear ya got the game working again. That's the exact same thing that happened to me! Went from one game to the next and none worked until i reinstalled unreal engine. the only other game that I can think of off the top of my head that I have with the unreal engine is Aliens:Colonial Marines. Don't know if it messed it up or not, but I know the jokes will start coming. LOL

I have the same problem with L4D2 one time, try locate the binaries of game and apply "compatible mode" and try run again. Make sure that don´t have any "update system" recently, sometime the automatic update of Windows make hard problems with GPU´s drivers or directplay. see ya!

I had an issue with the whole Trilogy. Actually, Impact worked fine for awhile but then it just stopped. If I tried to install the second game, I just got an error about a corrupted PhysX file. I messed around and got an answer, though this might not for everyone.

Go to your Control Panel --> Programs --> Programs and Features --> Uninstall Program --> NVIDA PhysX

Instead of uninstalling it, REPAIR NVIDA PhysX. It takes a seconds, but when I tried playing Impact and the second one, they were both fixed.

Hey thank you so much for your help!!! the game starts normally now. I tried only the first game, I hope this method can resolve the problem with the other two games.

The game seems nice too :D. Finally I can play it!
