Much older WA from 1999 got windowed mode in official patch in 2020.
Does that mean they can't play any game that doesn't have a windowed mode?
Can't really answer for him but I'll try my best guess:
He uses a big screen 4K TV as his desktop monitor, and uses it so that it's divided into grids and kind of like "virtual screens" if you will, a kind of multimonitor-in-single-monitor setup. So when multitasking, with browser windows and development IDEs etc, and he wants to jump back and forth with the game, the windowed mode is a definite requirement. However, he's been known to play games fullscreen on the couch when he's not multitasking anything else.
In this case we play the game remotely together, and multitasking is a requirement -> thus windowed mode is needed.
If we played couch multiplayer locally, this probably wouldn't be such a big issue.
