The Shell Part I: Inferno

The Shell Part I: Inferno

Almost bought this game
I was so close to rebuying this game on Johren until I saw they added the DRM to the store page after the game releases. The most draconian DRM I’ve seen this century.

Nah. I’m good. I’m on my knees praying that the third one isn’t like this but I know my heart will be broken.

Huh. Didn't know that people still complained about something as insignificant as DRM.

You underestimate Johrens drm. Trust me on this, you can lose access to your game by dragging the EXE to a new folder or buying more ram.

I’m not spending a penny on any other game with that drm. Sure denuvo has its problems but it’s not a “well I’m never buying that game” showstopper like Johren’s crap

Not only those are 100% false. But Johren literally tells you that you can revoke a key, what does this means: You have 3 activation keys. You download, install it and use a key. You now have 2 activation keys. You contact Support, ask them to revoke it, and tada, you have 3 keys again. You can also do this exact same thing by just adding a recokeactivationkey line when uninstalling. Johren support literally tell you this if you contact them.

Lastly, you literally have the option to just get it here on steam if you don't want to do any of the above. You had 0 intention of buying the game, you just came here for attention and clown points.

In current year, zoomers actively shill for DRM.

Wew lad what a time to be alive.

Where does it say that on the store page regarding DRM?

The system requirements say it contains Johren drm. And funny enough it didn’t say this before release, they added that line after release. I was one click away from preordering when I didn’t see the DRM and thankfully said “hmm the preorder discount lasts beyond the release, I might as well wait just in case”

Edit: to be clear this drm is on the uncensored Johren website version, as far as I know it’s not on the censored steam version.

“You just have to contact support every time your game becomes unplayable because you moved your game to a new hard drive, and if you contact support they will tell you a secret code involving creating a script in notepad to contact their server and disable your game” is not the ringing endorsement of Johren’s DRM you think it is, and I feel sorry for you if you think this is normal in videogames

Absolute insanity, these zoomers are brainwashed. They really don't know what its like not having to sign in or having all the game features without having to purchase a DLC on day 1 release and to see this guy shill for DRM, sadge.

There are tons of those in the shiravune discord. I've yet to play dungeon travelers 2, not until they release it elsewhere otherwise I'll just keep going through my neverending backlog.

The Steam version doesn't use Johren/DMM's DRM; it does have basic Steam DRM but that's a lot more 'manageable'. And the patch isn't DRM-protected either - it's not even an executable, just an extra PFS archive you drop inside the game directory.

It's a couple extra steps for the first setup, since the patch is a separate download, but in the long run the Steam version's a lot easier to move around, back up, and restore. And even if the Johren version didn't have DRM, I'd put money on Steam surviving longer than Johren anyways.

Assuming the third one also has Johren’s drm (it will), buying on steam and patching it will have to be my play. I’m not going to do that for the first two, which I was a million percent ready to rebuy (again) from Johren before they chose to reveal it contained their DRM. choosing to deal with external patches for steam or dealing with the most archaic and user unfriendly DRM on the planet is simply not worth it for my third copy of this game.

Yeah. Never trust zoomers. they love sucking corporate ♥♥♥♥. I made the mistake of trusting their reviews of a Lego videogame. It was overwhelmingly, "best game of my childhood."

Well ♥♥♥♥, their childhood must have sucked because the best game of my childhood was Super Mario World and comparing the 2 is like diamonds to mud.

Needless to say, I was disappointed with my purchase.

Yeah agree it's garbage i had 3 activations and couldn't play legit downloaded vn from their store (Dohna Dohna) i had to download DD.exe from japanese version of a game to play ♥♥♥♥ i have purchased. Their DRM is a joke it doesn't prevent their visual novels from being pirated they don't protect anything they only give more headaches to the legit user. Stupid excuse about contacting support every time you want to revoke authenticaion is a parody since pirates don't need to clown around.

Why would you ever even buy on Johren when you can buy the game on steam?
OlCrunchy Jan 14, 2024 @ 8:34pm
Cuz the steam version is missing loads of stuff, like entire routes.

Since the game is on other stores uncut though, theres thankfully no reason whatsoever to use Johren (the worst store ive ever used in my life)
