Unit Colors?
It may be just a me problem, but I struggle to quickly identify the different units and what they do on the field. It's a similar issue I had with Particle Fleet.

As an accessibility issue, is there a way we could see the different units be different colors. It'd really help me to identify the units and recall what it does....

Also, maybe a hover highlight to remind us what units can or can't do? I'm used to previous CW where they each serve a focused purpose. Now, some can dig, some can't, some can shoot, some shoot like cannon, some like a mortar, some do both....

And because I have to click a unit to see it's name, remind myself what it does, and the only way to do that is to go all the way into the tutorials, it becomes quite a cumbersome process.

I've played since CW1 was on Kongregate and all of the games had more visual/color queues so it's quite sad to see that this game doesn't have it.

Perhaps I'll tinker with the files, or perhaps a mod will come my way, but I hope Virgil sees this and can add some clarifying features! The game is impressive for sure, but it feels like it's still a little rough around the corners.

Maybe what might help you is to learn weapons instead of learning ships. There's nothing special about a ship, what's matters is the guns they have on them.

The three main damaging armaments are Mk1 cannon, rocket launcher, sentinel cannon. Mk1 cannon is the basic gray cannon mounted on most ships, that shoots at creeper/digitalis/bots. Sentinel cannon is the red cannon that is mounted on your Apex ship and on some standing turrets. Rocket launcher is a red circle and is your strongest weapon for dealing raw damage to the creeper.

For excavation you need the lathe, and that is fitted on three ships - your Apex, Digger and Cryon ships.

After that you're left with specialized weapons, i.e. Cryon has a freeze gun, Coilship has a coil beam

I appreciate that, but the point of my post is that I'm having a difficult time learning the ships and weapons because of how similar they are in color. If there were more visual cues to help differentiate ship from ship and then colors to differentiate gun from gun then it'd be better...

Visually they're all too samey and I am struggling to learn them, which is a stark difference from any previous CW title.

I do appreciate your suggestion, I'll see if it helps, but I do still hope for additional accessibility options.
I tend to mix up the digger and duster, especially in the build menu, as they are both squareish with no guns. Survival apex is very similar to the defender, and the midsize apex has a pretty similar profile to the frigate. The others have decently distinguishable profiles, but some flashes of color could be nice as well.
