IXE or Creeper World 3?
I want to get acquainted with this series of games, but I don’t know where to start. I heard that the 3rd part is the best. What would you recommend for a beginner? Thanks.

IXE is closer to Particle Fleet than Creeper World 2/3/4.
After some initial bounce off of the 3rd dimension in Creeper World 4, I got really into it and it is just such a huge game. After the campaign, take a look at user generated maps, you can play as creeper multiple different ways, play in first person view and be the cannon etc.
So I really recommend Creeper World 4 over 3.

I would recommend CW4 as well. It's a great strategy game and, as said above, the vast amount of player made maps really make it shine.
Whether IXE is a good game is a question of taste, but it is not representative of the creeper world series.

3D in similar games is a bit off-putting... But thanks for the recommendations guys, I'll think about part 4.

Personally, I did like the switch to 3D because it adds more depth to how the terrain impacts creeper flow. A central aspect of the game is how fluids move, so the 3rd dimension makes that more interesting imo. But if you don't like this, CW3 is 2D and very good, too.

One can always (and most advanced players do this) play CW4 in top-down mode. Works great

yes, I would recommend 3. It's the one the hooked me.

3 is a really great point to jump in.

CW3 was on Steam before the previous two and where I started, and... well, apparently it worked because here I am. But CW1 is pretty similar but even more straightforward (like all maps being the same size with no scrolling necessary), so I don't think even that would be a bad choice either.

I bought the whole bundle for cheap last winter sale. I played them all in order over the holidays and had a blast.

I'd do the game in release order to get the story as presented/intended. So that's...
CW1, CW2. CW3. Particle Fleet, CW4. CW:IXE

Also, I consider IXE to be a hybrid of CW2 and Particle Fleet's play styles.

In order is best. 1 and 2 are cheap, great, and a coherent lead in to 3. 3 is the best of the series.

All of the games have demos. Try them, see what you like best.
