How to Beat Distant Level?

How do you get to the reactor in the distant level - I've cleared everything else out, but no matter how I attack the chamber with the reactor in it, the best I can manage is a stalemate - I've tried using AC with the portals and Creeper Eater (which seems to do nothing) - what am I doing wrong?

At the start of the mission, dig down and open the two closest anticreeper chambers into the reactor chamber.

-pick one of the breeder trees with a base at the rock. ideally the northeast one is best because you can then dump eater into the chamber. make a 1 pixel slit and put a shield on it. your team can do enough damage that the AC starts pushing on the breeder. eventually you widen the slit to 3 pixels so your guns can pewpew. you just need AC to hit at least two squares and it is over. an additional method is to intentionally open the southwest corner of the chamber and allow it to spill down to depressurize the chamber.
