Creep escapes from metal containment
I dug some nitron out of there, literally every last pixel but it kept multiplying still. I think that is the reason why creep is pushed out... Not cool

It is campaign mission Altair (Gateway) where portals are unlocked, but the bug will probably be possible on any map. I don't know if nitron is only one that can dupe itself.

Yeah I encountered this weird behavior on Altair as well and it seems exploitative against the player that the creep can get though metal, but we can't... and if that portal gets lost, that's that, you can't get in for the upgrade gems. The one on the left is even more of a mystery to me.

I'm actually stuck on this level and can't figure it out. There were some other comments that there's a huge difficulty spike on an earlier level but I didn't think it was that hard... this level is much more of a puzzle without a clear solution.

The mushroom cloud in the middle is no joke, the creep explodes like a nuke if you penetrate any of these enclosed chambers, and using the boomzene just unleashes a tsunami.

Haven't seen anybody else show a strategy for this level yet either...

I actually finished that map just. I smacked my ships against that little portal hole for like 30 minutes to no avail. Then i just left there a shield and couple ships, and went for the tree instead. I didn't need the gems from the metal box, just destroy tree and portal and mission complete.

When the nitron drips down, it pushes out creep in the space and a few sections of the metal containment allow it to leak out. If you leave a rocket guy over there, it will shoot most of the leaks. I dug all around the containment and then all the way to the bedrock under it. Also, the level has acid (water and sulfur) and you can use that to destroy the containment if you lose the portal. I had to use acid even clearing the creep to the emitter as I couldn't fit a nullifier to destroy it. Destroying the metal structure was the only way.

The way to prevent it is to put in shields to prevent the infinitely spawning nitron from falling down and pushing it out. Or just dont touch it at all.

Yeah I also figured it out shortly after posting... strategic placement of shields is the key.

I wound up getting destroyed when I tried to push into that area. I either got acid or explosive material to destroy the metal and get back in... I forget which off-hand.

Yes, acid allows you to get in again. Don't understand why the nitron keeps multiplying though.

I did some needless distraction where i blew up the top, drawing the robots away, then attack from the side at the bottom and rushed the emitters.

This wasn't needed because the creeps didn't expand outward toward the ships.

From the top you can drop boomzene and ignite it in flight to do some damage, but that isn't much needed. You can drop some boom at the bottom to clear some creep, but hardly needed to.

It just a matter of getting in range of the emitter, afterward it's mostly cleanup.

Yeah, the duping was an irritation. Otherwise, same basic strategy as any other map works here. Line all your ships up, poke a little hole that's covered by shields, deplete the creeper, destroy the emitters. Having 4 together let me get the quad kill achievement on this level. As long as you don't open a massive breach and let the creeper overwhelm you, pretty straightforward.

I did have some fun with the 8,000 boomzene the duping gave me once the level was beat, so that was fun 😂
