While with the Purist Fix Pack[www.nexusmods.com] you can straight up use JSGME to apply the mod' into Sacred 2 Gold.
Both those mods (and I'm not referring to the Community Patch) diverge a lot in content and despite I was more used to Enhanced Edition in recent years I've dabbled a little into the Purist Fix Pack. They're both interesting to play and try no doubt, but always keep in mind that they differ a lot probably due to their creators different view points now regarding the Sacred 2 Gold universe.
To be bluntly frank, lately I haven't been playing Sacred 2 Gold due to other IRL constraints, but hte best advice that I can give you atm is to give both a shot. But remember to always make clean uninstallations and then installations after trying one of those.
I wasn't aware of the Enhanced Edition.
I've read Ascaron bugs are really bad, so I will go the route of Community Patch + EE + SGME.
Also be aware that the Puris Fix pack alters some weapons size inside your inventory and that's mainly why I've recommending to at least keep your saves separated regarding the mod' that you're using that that time. And the clean installation is advised because I've found a Purist Fix Pack attacking at range effect upon Mage Staffs when already had swapped back into Enhanced Edition.
Tbh, I still own a Sacred 2 CD-DVD back from around 2008 and only acquired the Sacred 2 Gold edition because it was on discount and my Ice & Blood DLC was a ripped one sometimes causing me game issues (although with my current knowledge of the game, I'm not sure anymore if those weren't already lingering bugs as I've previously mentioned). Sometimes, ignorance is a bliss.
