The problem is that Ascalom made Sacred (excellent game) and Sacred 2 (superb game) and went bankrupt shortly after launching rhe expansion for Sacred 2.
I have read in the internet two years ago that the guys that made Sacred and Sacred 2 were trying to make the real sequel to Sacred 2.
I guess that they didn't get the money to do it, because the expertise they have enough.
It is a pity!
I even bought this gold edition while already owning Sacred 2 (EU) here on Steam, this game is truly a masterpiece, even the animations are still great, they're dated but compare that with any other game that released at that time.
It really makes you wonder how in the world they got bankrupt.. I think it got all to do with marketing, there is really nothing wrong with this game, maybe the story is lacking but who plays a hack & slash for the story? Everything else is great, this is also the only hack & slash game I know where you can use mounts! And it also got the biggest open world I've ever seen.
It's indeed a pity and I can only imagine how the devs must have felt going bankrupt, they definitly didn't deserve it!
Devs that made the original Sacred and this game are working on a new arpg project, they announced it in 2014 but I can't find any gameplay footage yet, but at least they're working on something, that's awesome!
