Sacred 2 Gold

Sacred 2 Gold

Can't get it to work, I've done everything I could.
I've read every post about this Win 10 crash thing and all, I got the CP, etc... Everything you guys suggested I've done it already.
So far the only thing that made it boot up has been to download PhysxLoader.dll (latest version), but right when it shows the ironic message black screen, it crashes and shows this message:

Startup error

driver: (nvldumd.dll)
graphicscard: (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti)
device: (\\.\DISPLAY1)
cPhysics::init - NxCreatePhysicsSDK failed
SacredApp::setupEngine() physics init failed!
SacredApp::setup() setupEngine failed!
App::Setup() failed!

I'm sure there's a way to make this piece of ♥♥♥♥ run, please help ya boy out.

Since it sounds like it is missing it's PhysX (cPhysics::init - NxCreatePhysicsSDK failed), I have to ask: Did you install the PhysX from the installation dir?
(you can find it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sacred 2 Gold\redist\PhysX)

Well, as little as I know about the subject, I understand that there are two PhysX components at stake here; one is an Nvidia driver which I already have the latest version installed, and the other one is a specific .dll file which I downloaded and pasted in the System directory of the game.
With that in mind, do you think there's a step I'm missing? Thanks for the response :)

Missing? There are sadly countless reasons why Sacred 2 wouldn't run on a system.
I just wanted to say that I never had to download any dll. In the mentioned directory lies an executable file which will install all PhysX-Components Sacred 2 should need. (The directoy comes with the installation of Sacred 2; nothing creepy here.)

if you still care: i fixed this error. do you have BOTH physx? got this error when i only had the legacy physx. once i also installed the current normal physx it worked
TheWhiteFlame Oct 11, 2020 @ 12:36pm
it didnt start after vanilla steam install, for me this solved the problem: setting sacred2.exe in compatibility mode -> win7 or even vista-2
worked w/o legacy physix, but later i installed them anyway.
duppleganger2win Oct 11, 2020 @ 6:03pm
I have the same problem. Am reinstalling but do I have to also install another physx program from an alt source site?

Idk if you took this advice but this games is seriously one of the best ARPG out there IF and i mean IF you download the community patch.

Seriously, do yourself the biggest favor and DL it. Restores cut content, More items and mounts, Fixes bugs and game breaking, quest breaking bugs. It does it all.

And if youre feeling EXTRA extra then you can download the Diablo II conversion mod which is insane. I thought it would interfere with the lore and make things "Too odd" but it really didn't it just made it feel like "wolds collided". I suggest beating the game once, then download the Diablo II mod and play through it again with that on.

Im telling you, this game has an insane amount of content.

Another person's (named Snaily) solution:

You can add to that thread. Here's what worked for me.
1) Exit Steam Completely
2) Go to Sacred 2 folder in steamapps
3) Go to Redist in the Sacred 2 Folder
4) Download PhysX in the folder provided and/or Legacy PhysX
5) Download "VC" In the folder will be vcredist, download that
6) Download Direct X in the folder but if it fails to download, don't worry mine did too and it still worked
7) ALSO run Sacred 2 in Compatibility mode with XP on Service Pack 3

Another step is to.
8) Disable windows 10 overlays (pop-ups when games start over top of the game) which usually are enabled by default, disable all program overlays other than steam.

9) create a short cut for sacred2.exe to desktop and in the shortcut settings, go to target and add a space then add -skipopenal -nocpubinding

Finally able to launch, I scoured quite a bit and hadn't seen this fix as an option. Go into your Nvidia Control Panel and then to Program Settings. Find the Sacred2.exe (Game Client) settings and I set the OpenGL renderer to my GTX 1060 as well as forced vsync OFF instead of Auto-decide I think. Along with the command parameters, the legacy PhysX drivers, compatibilty mode settings (these are are found all over the place on other links, if you found this you probably found them already) I'm finally able to launch into the Main Menu. Hope this helps someone at least

Only two issues I've seen thus far are that the Elite texture pack causes artifacts (might just be my video card, but it's the only time I've seen artifacts on my PC, so probably a bug), and enabling Physx in the menu drives the camera crazy. Other than that, perfect!

All right. Here's my take.

I also had problems running this game on Windows 10 , here is what fixed it for me.
On the Sacred2.exe compatibility mode, I had to set :
Run in compatibility mode: Windows Vista SP1
Reduced color mode: 16 bit
Disable Fullscreen optimizations
Change High DPI Settings, -> Override High DPI scaling behavior -> Application
That made the game bootable, but I could not change any graphics settings, the game would crash.
To fix the last problem, disable Steam overlay for that game and VOILA!
Hope this helps somebody!]

Does not work on boot up. Game gets to load, goes through the start up, shorts through checks, but still gets the 'failed' 'physx' window before shutting down.
Also tried a method one down from original post where the user 'CheezyWeezle'. Compatibility mode, vista 7, etc. Still no dice.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/225640/discussions/0/3247565033772693802/ suggested compatibility mode with widows 7. Also did compatibility with the redist PhysX in administrator just to be sure. No dice.

duppleganger2win, I'm very sorry to hear that nothing worked for you. Here's a long-shot question: Are you running any monitoring software or other general 3rd party gaming apps that shouldn't be affecting the game, but maybe are?

Some time ago, I installed an app that was supposed to fix a problem on another game. It did at first, but then gradually started having problems and stopped working right and I kept getting pop-up messages asking me to sign up for a monthly fee upgraded version. It started messing with some other games, so I uninstalled the app.

Something similar, but not quite as bad, happened with some computer/game monitoring software that is quite widely used by gamers. It did help me diagnose a problem with my machine, but then I discovered that it was causing issues on some of my games, so I uninstalled that one as well. That's the only additional suggestion I can think of to give you at this time.

I acquired the game this morning and all attempts to run it have failed. All attempts end the same: the screen goes black. the program refuses to shut down, using Task Manager to shut it down is futile, attempting access to any other program is futile. The only way to exit is to Restart the computer.
I downloaded the community patch, it has not solved the problem.
I tried Right Click, but there was no option to examine any files, let alone a Config.sys file. I see a Compatibility Test option, but that proved useless, other than giving me some technical jargon about some Nvidia driver issue, but I could not print it off, because the screen went black again.
I searched through Explore among the Programs(x86) Folder; Steam->Streamapps->Common->Games->Sacred2, but there was no Config.exe to be found. A name search for it proved equally useless.
I tried running Steam as Admin, or shutting it off in the background. Results were the same.

My rig is just two weeks old, so pretty new.
Dell G5, I-7 core, Nvidia 2060, Win10-64bit.

To get to the local files:

Find the game in your game library.
Right-click on it. Click on "Properties".
Click on the "Local Files" tab.
Click on "Browse Local Files".

I also cannot find a config.sys file anywhere in the local files for this game. That is a file that can be found when doing the above for the original Sacred Gold game, I believe.

Is the Community Patch still working for you?
HiFive Oct 14, 2020 @ 1:26am
Another thing - the game sometimes takes a long time to load. The screen will be blank for a long time before you see something start to happen. Maybe (I'm hoping) you are confusing that long load time with the idea that it's not working?

Ive done all of this too and tried all of the compatibility modes. This is the message that keeps popping up for me,

driver: [aticfx32.dll]
graphicscard: [AMD Radeon(TM) Vega 8 Graphics]
device: [\\.\DISPLAY1]
cPhysics::init - NxCreatePhysicsSDK failed
SacredApp::setupEngine() physics init failed!
SacredApp::setup() setupEngine failed!

I had to edit my previous posting regarding the Community Patch. It should have read: "It has /NOT/ solved the problem". Post now includes the missing word. My apologies for the confusion.

All efforts to locate the config.sys file have proven futile.

On my last attempt, I gave it over 20 minutes to load. Nothing.
