Sacred II and Windows 10 the easiest way [2020]

Hi guys. I just got the game and I see there are many people out there that are having issues trying to run it. Hope it can help some of you. Here's what I did:

1. Install the game (Steam, GoG, physical copy, any should work).

2. Go to Sacred 2 install folder, you should see some folder named "Redist".

3. In that folder there should be other three more folders called DirectX, PhysX and VCRedist. Install them all in no particular order.

4. Optional and Recommended: install the Community Patch 160.
You can get a download link after you register an account at DarkMatters.org.
Download the compressed file, unrar it, and there should be two .exe files, cm-enable.exe and cm-disable.exe.
The first one installs the Community Patch, and the second one uninstalls it and restores Sacred 2 original files.
Simply double click "cm-enable.exe" and it will automatically detect your Sacred 2 install dir and procede to install and update the required files.

5. That's is, you're done and ready to play Sacred II!

After that you should be able to launch the game without rebooting your PC, and without using options like setting sacred2.exe to "run in compatibility mode" or "run with administrator rights".

The camera seems to be fixed also, I can move it 360° freely, zoom in and out and set min and max vertical angle.

An issue I found is that a black screen may appear after you ALT+TAB. All you got to do is to press ESC two or three times and a popup asking you if you really want to quit the game, press no and that's it. The main menu is back.

it could be your antivirus blocking the file from the patch. I'm using a third-party software as antivirus and had no issue. Check how to temporary disable Windows Defender, extract the files from the community patch, install it and then re-enable your antivirus.

After many hours of reading forums and trying every fix anyone mentioned,I found one that works consistently for me.

1. Disable UAC via Windows group policy- Option 5 on this page. - https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/an-administrator-has-blocked-you-from-running-this-app-how-to-fix-on-a-windows-10-pc/ . Note that you have to restart for it to take effect.
2. Set the Sacred2.exe file to run as administrator. I did the same for the sacredgs.exe file , but I don't know if it was necessary.
3. Set the sacred2.exe file for WindowsXP SP3 compatibility mode. I don't know if this is the best choice, but the game would not run without a compatibility mode. Another option ( Vista ) might be better.

What was weird that I was able to run run the GS manually as admin at first, and then start the game and it worked. But after a few runs, I started getting the "you have been blocked from running the app.." message. So that lead me to do step 1.

I turned off about every security feature on Windows trying to get the game to run. lol. I'm going to go back and slow start re-enabling the Firewall, virus scanner, etc to secure my computer better now that I can play the game.

My situation and setup
Windows 10 Pro ( 2H1 build )
GoG Sacred 2 Gold
Issue was "Timeout Connecting to Server. Exiting" message when trying to start the game.

it could be that your antivirus/firewall is blocking the game, I have a third party software as AV

My game wont crash or give any errors, it just stops responding while I stare at a black screen. Windows 11, and I do have the phyx software that is in the games folders. I tried everything including compatibility mode and run in admin mode. Also firewall is letting the application through just fine

Dont worked for me.. GOG version. After SILVER logo, game closes! (Sorry for bad english)
