Sacred 2 Gold

Sacred 2 Gold

Sacred II and Windows 10 the easiest way [2020]
Hi guys. I just got the game and I see there are many people out there that are having issues trying to run it. Hope it can help some of you. Here's what I did:

1. Install the game (Steam, GoG, physical copy, any should work).

2. Go to Sacred 2 install folder, you should see some folder named "Redist".

3. In that folder there should be other three more folders called DirectX, PhysX and VCRedist. Install them all in no particular order.

4. Optional and Recommended: install the Community Patch 160.
You can get a download link after you register an account at DarkMatters.org.
Download the compressed file, unrar it, and there should be two .exe files, cm-enable.exe and cm-disable.exe.
The first one installs the Community Patch, and the second one uninstalls it and restores Sacred 2 original files.
Simply double click "cm-enable.exe" and it will automatically detect your Sacred 2 install dir and procede to install and update the required files.

5. That's is, you're done and ready to play Sacred II! :steamhappy:

After that you should be able to launch the game without rebooting your PC, and without using options like setting sacred2.exe to "run in compatibility mode" or "run with administrator rights".

The camera seems to be fixed also, I can move it 360° freely, zoom in and out and set min and max vertical angle.

An issue I found is that a black screen may appear after you ALT+TAB. All you got to do is to press ESC two or three times and a popup asking you if you really want to quit the game, press no and that's it. The main menu is back.

Hope you some good Sacred gaming!

Just 2 cents. Works fine with me win10, no expansion.
I wasn't sure about picking this game up because people had trouble running it on W10 but having read the guides many times i felt confident enough about applying patches and fixes should i have issues. I was willing to refund it within the 2 hour window if i couldn't play.

So I just bought it there. I installed it. I disabled the steam overlay straight away. I started the game and it went through the first installation process and installed DirextX and a few other things. After that was finished the game loaded up first time no problem. I messed with setting, picked my character and started a game, no issues.

I will still install the Community patch as that seems to fix a lot of bugs but i just thought id post this for anyone who's put off buying this because of issues. Try it and see how you go. Refund is always there.

What i will say is that i play a few older games on steam so maybe i got lucky that some other game installed something that this game uses also but i don't know for sure.

Edit - Installed Community patch no problem.

I am glad that you all got the game going because I did not. I am not a computer person but installing games and a few other basics are about my limit. Being old I tend to play a game several times to get the way it plays. This is the first open world game I have ever tried to play except for Two Worlds 1 and I have made steady progress but right from the start I was told that things that were going on in my games were NOT the way the game should play.
I installed the patch and things seemed right but were not. For example the Icons where you go when you die were lit up and I could move from one to another with no problem. The game did not really play right so I verified files and found 27 files that needed to be reacquired
Then I noticed that the game booted differently. I the game booted then I could boot the patch if I wanted it. At this point all of the icons where you go when you die went off and I could only have one active at a time.
When the game started to not boot the patch I ran verify files which were fine. Asteam player said I could try a reinstall which did not help as the game booted with a blue logo with "ice & blood" on it I think it all reverts to the missing 27 files ever though the game said there were no missing files.
The sad thing is that after the reinstall win 10 would not allow the patch to be reinstalled. So if thing get bad you can thank your good luck that this did not happen to you. HAVE A NICE DAY:KneelingBow::steamsad:

I am really sorry to hear that. I hope you'll find some other games that gets your neurons fired up again. :)

It should work if you follow steps 1 to 3. Are you using Windows 10? are you using Nvidia GPU?

I just reinstalled the game and didn't have to change anything to make it work, so you are probably missing installing the software from step 2.

I FOUND THE FOLDER AND RIGHT CLICKED ON THE THREE FOLDERS. I am an old guy and my computer skills on a 10 pt. scale would be -3. I am worried that a reinstall caused the installed patch to stop working and win 10 refused to allow it to be reinstalled.
I am using win 10 and have a GTX 1080 video card. The game does not let me compleat the "welcome money" quest and the gate will not unlock. I finished the recovering the bands stuff and did the concert but the welcome money quest will not function and I think that is why I can't get the first boss quest with the big guy in the pit. I do thank you for trying to help. looks like I am doomed in trying to get started on the main quest. I love the game ....its the FIRST open world game I am able to play thanks and stay safe:KneelingBow:

mmm it might be a buggy mission, I know there are a few of them. Did you try to install the Community Patch? I'm not 100% sure but I think it fixes most if not all the mission that doesn't work in the official release.

the patch you say? the last time I reinstalled the game win 10 refused to install the patch.. I don't have the courage to try again because win 10 might still refuse to install it thanks for the help. At times like this I begin to think the older I get, and the less I understand. I do love the game but...what if....never mind at least you tried to help
