Sacred 2 Gold

Sacred 2 Gold

bad performance, almost unplayable
yo guys, sacred 2 is almost unplayable for me.

the stuttering is very extreme, seems like its lagging while loading textures with each step I take.

I srsly tried every damn fix on darkmatters forums, steam and gog, and nothing is helping.

Im running the gog Sacred 2 gold version with the latest community patch.

Ofc I tried changing through all kinds of settings but the settings dont have any impact on the game lagging. It doesnt matter if I play with everything set to high or low.

Maybe my computer is too bad, but everywhere I check, ppl tell me I should be able to run the game smooth with my hardware.

My Pc:

Nvidia Gtx 550ti

AMD FX4100 @ 3,6ghz

Win 7 64 Bit

At the top of your steam libray, click Help then System Information and then copy & paste that information in here.

Time for a video card update.
you should have at least 2gb video ram
scott0007 May 26, 2018 @ 1:27pm
Yea I’ve had no issues playing it still

Citate from Requirements (German):
Grafik:Grafikkarte 256 MB RAM, DirectX® 9.0c kompatibel, mit Pixel Shader 2.0 Unterstützung (from nVidia® GeForce™ 6800 oder ATI® Radeon® X800)

I read about 256 MB VRAM not 2 GB VGRAM. It is only a quarter (1/4) of an GB.

"Im running the gog Sacred 2 gold version with the latest community patch."

I am not sure, if GOG version is the same as Steam. Steam doesn't show us, if the community patch is included or not. Beta Builds aren't selectable.

The Steam verision uses other Libraries (.dll) as GOG does. This could differ in working.

No need for a GPU update, I played Sacred 2 with a GTX 260 (256MB) in the past and it worked, albeit without most of the bells and whistles.

Are you using the Trimmed Elite Textures on top of the CM Patch 1.60? Because those PAK files really make a difference in the performance of the game. You should probably defrag your HDD because the game frags it a bit (a lot actually). Clean GPU driver install/update to latest version is also an option. Other than that it shouldn't be behaving so badly.

thanks for the answers

im not using any other mod or the elite textures, just sacred 2 gold version + community patch.
i was reading about defragging, so i already did it but nothing has changed
also i checked the drivers and everything is up to date

So try this then: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5yMxfzmPZ4_R2J2eFZxc2wzeGc

Extract the files to the PAK directory of the game, then on the in-game options menu put texture quality to "elite". Be sure to change the names on the original graphics20-24 files so you don't need to overwrite them and can easily double back.
hazeYo May 27, 2018 @ 10:20am
nothing has changed with elite textures, still the same stuttering

You have a fair enough PC to run the game at maximum settings, you have the latest drivers, latest game patches, disk defragged... I don't know man, it should be working well!

Can it be that you have some third party program causing some conflict there? Try deactivating the stuff on your system tray before launching the game as sometimes there are lots of programs running in the background. Other than that I really don't know what else it could be, and you're onWin 7 x64 like me and I have no issues!

PS: I know this will sound stupid, but try changing your desktop resolution to 1920x1080 if possible.

Is the game laggy be design? The game seems not smooth at all for me on Win 10 i7 4790k with Titan X (Pascal) and placed on SSD. Sluttering is kiling me. I didn't try community patch though, but I can't see anything related to lags or graphics in the patch notes.

Not exactly. The game was incredibly stable up to version 2.40, then after 2.43 a dreaded memory leak was introduced (who knows why) that was only dealt with in Community Patch v1.60. The same coders that did the patch redid the Elite Texture pack, which is basically HD textures, to be without clutter and also changed the Physx game file for the same purpose. All of this combined made the game smoother than I ever remember it to be while being as beautiful as it can be. I play it with everything maxed out in-game and some extra AA/AF settings directly from the Nvidia Control Panel, and it goes smooth as butter. Still there are places that have micro-stuttering like the first time you visit Sloeford for instance, but I reckon it has to do with texture caching because it doesn't happen on subsequent visits. Basically it's just that, at least on my end. The same can happen when the weather shifts, with rain starting to fall down or lightning storms suddenly appearing.

Be wary though that the game wasn't developed for x64 systems. It was developed for x84 systems and just so happens to run on x64 as well, but it's not perfect at each and every step of the way, specially with Win 10 more so than Win 7.

Hope that answers your questions.

Well, I'm downloading the patch to find out if it helps, thanks)
What do you mean, "and just so happens to run on x64 as well"? x86 runs on x64.
