Is new game plus a scam?
I might be wrong, but apparently, except for the clothes, you earn the right to store your items and collection in the hyperbox when you finish the game for the first time. You must play again and not forget, before the second completion, to put everything in the hyperbox you want to keep.
It's like those lottery spam: you don't win a prize, you earn the right to play to win a prize!

It's to my understanding just a way to make use of items and ammo you've collected right from the very start, completely optional.

im confused, you have to buy the game to play it

You are, in fact, wrong. New game plus is automatic, you don't need to beat the game twice. First room you turn right and there is a hyperbox with all your items from the previous run (plus challenges if you played any). And you get to explore new areas since the yellow shelves are removed. :summercat2023:
In this case, there is something wrong with my copy. Because I finished the game on easy, but the hyperbox was empty. Unless it does not work for easy?

In the very first playthrough you don't have access to hyperbox at all so you can't put anything inside that box. You can add items to it only after starting another playthrough after finishing the first playthrough.
If you want big weapons at the beginning of your second playthrough, you could do a few challenge modes that have hyperboxes and put the weapons from there into the box, then you can use them in your second playthrough.

You should then admit that I was right! It is a lottery scam. I earn the right to start a game plus. But it is not a game plus!

depends on your definition of new game plus.

if you mean bringing weapons and ammo you had in your previous playthrough to next run,
RE1 HD remaster, RE2 remake, RE3 re-imagined, RE4 remake, none of them fits this definition. protagonist is equipped as default at the very beginning of NG+, except for a key unlocks some special room, or a weapon you get by meeting the requirement of ranking in your previous playthrough, nothing more.
RE5 & 6 are different though.

like said above, try challenge mode before going to a second run, then you won't be naked as the first playthrough.

No, it isn't. Lottery means you have to pay for something in hopes of getting a bigger reward in return. There is nothing like that here.

You are mistaken or trolling. Stop it.

Edit: can't believe I mistype so much..

This is not trolling but legitimate criticism. This feature should be changed. It would make a good game even better.

Improving a feature is different from accusing of scamming.

It is possible to be courteous with devs.

Agreed. It is meant in a polemical way. I do not doubt their good intentions, and they have done a good job. Anything can always be improved,

Then why do you phrase the original post including the title in an accusatory way?
Accusing an indie developer of scam is pretty serious these days in light of real scams like The Day Before.

The killing antidote is clearly not a scam nor has the game any scammy mechanics. It's just nonsense and you should know better than to communicate so thoughtlessly.

You are free to reject my explanation. But do not change the subject.
New game plus in TKA is wrong: it is misleading. It is usually meant that you get to take with you the results of a first run. This is here not the case. The fact that you can get the same or other advantages by playing challenges only confirms the principle: their is no difference whatsoever between the first or the second rum, and should therefore not be called new game plus. goodbye.

I would like to add that this discussion has lost any meaning whatsoever. I just lost all my save games. It is like I had never played the game before. I must say that I now sincerely doubt the sincerity of the devs. Had they not said that this problem was solved?
KingOfFools Dec 19, 2024 @ 2:25pm
firstly, ofcourse there is a difference in NG+, you get access to some areas and information that were locked in the first playthrough. taking weapons from a previous playthrough is completely irrelevant.

secondly, in the past it was possible to lose save games by playing the playtest because it saved the data in the same location. other than that you can only lose your saves if you mess with the following folder:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\TheKillingAntidote\Saved\SaveGames

what could also happen is an error in the steam cloud, because it synchronmizes your saves.

Steam should never allow third parties to mess with their cloud. Even though it usually works out alright. I personally never had that problem before.
It remains a KTA bug that needs to be eliminated.
