Clothing Farming
It's stupid. We should be able to get the ones we don't have first. I have 3 missing and I get the same ones over and over again.

From my experience clothing drops are weighted towards the ones you don't have, but not all boxes are created equally and some only contain certain types of clothes. Some only have shoes for example.

Out of curiosity which categories are the three you need from? Some clothes are locked behind collectables and one is only found in the abandoned hangar challenge.

Do you know which ones you are missing?
some are unique pick ups and vending machine from story. Those can't be acquired from boxes found just anywhere.

Could it be that?

First question is "Do you have mods installed?" If yes, and they are the type that are coded to be included in the vending machine or random boxes, delete the mod. You'll get them faster that way.
Other then that, read up on other threads that mention specifically which challenges/chapters drop the items you're trying to farm. It's not hard, and definitely not worthy of comments like "this is stupid, I should get what I want when I want.

This was a case prior latest updates. Now missing clothes are prioritized. Most likely you're looking in a wrong area or you're missing specific clothes which has unique locations.
Nope mate, I was gathering them nice and easy at first, in Centralized Control Area. I had 8 missing from CA Apparel, got 4 pieces on my first run, then it dropped to one on my second run. Now it's none.

Yes the clothes are from a mod, and how will I get them if I delete the mod again? Oh and I'm not talking about map specific clothing.

It's a mod from workshop, CA Apparel, at first I had 8 missing, did a run at Centralized Control Area, got 4 on the first run. Then it dropped to one, then none. I keep getting random clothing that I already own.

Maybe try a different map, or story mode, I've also used that mod before and I got most the pick ups in story mode. I've noticed most of the CA apparel items come from pink boxes.

Yeah I guess I'll try a different map, you have a suggestion?

Anything with reliable spawns of pink boxes, abandoned hangar has two and I know for certain CA items drop from those boxes, story mode also has a lot though obviously takes a bit longer. I'd avoid testing grounds, a lot of the boxes will be green or white and not what you need.

Hmm thanks.

Since we are on the subject, are there clothes tied to difficulty modes?
Hardcore is a stressful one and I don't think I can get through Extreme without cheezing a bit on supplies on the purple box.

No, the collectibles are not tied to any difficulty level.
It's the same with vending machines as well. Getting the same ones every time even if I bought it a second ago.

Most notably in chapter two, the vending machine there is known to have issues with certain mods that prevents all the items from showing up. I have no idea why this is the case but I know it can happen, I don't know if this issue can effect other vending machines.

If something similar has happened to your machines the only way to fix it is to delete the mod, buy the items you're missing then reinstall the problem mod again. It's however worth noting the machines have a very small selection of clothing and repeats are pretty common anyway, so don't just immediately delete your mods without being sure that the machine you're visiting can actually stock the item your missing.

Chapter one vending machines stock the black and mixed black purple lace sets, as well as some items from the officer uniform set, the chapter two machine stocks five items from the white lace set and variants from the Christmas set.

the extra modes also gives outfits. some of them are carefully hidden around the maps and hard to reach spots.
