How hard is this game compared to XCOM?
I really like Persona 5 (played normal and Royal) and also i like and (can) play Tactial-/Strategy Game.

However, i played XCOM Enemy Unknown (the first one) before and didnt pass through the early game. I didnt understand what im doing wrong and getting Game Over in like 5-6 Missions. I retried again with differents Ways, but no success.

How hard is it on Persona 5 Tactica? Do you can choose the difficulty on this game?

Well Tactica is a much easier game so you don't have to worry about that. If anything, just lower the difficulty (would recommend trying hard or higher first though).

My only tactics experience is playing twenty hours total across Fire Emblem Engage and Three Houses, but this game feels quite easy. I’m playing on Merciless and there have only been a few encounters where I’ve really struggled. There’s no permanent death, and HP/SP is restored between battles. You’re also able to dynamically change the difficulty if you find yourself stuck or wanting to give yourself more of a challenge.

It's basically Mario and Rabbids Kingdom clone. P5T focus on story more than M&RK while I like Kingdom gameplay better.
So far playing on hard P5T seems easier than M&RK

Yes. This game is more like M&R than X-com: three man team, over the top combat that's less about realism, chain attacks, no fog of war, no strategic base building, Your characters have unique ability that you can easily reassign as much as you want, maps are replayable, there are challenge/quests levels that are even more puzzle-like, no permadeath, no countdown to doom, no 95% misses, etc.
What it does have in common with X-com is tactic battles with move and shoot each turn but in any order and half-to full cover but more simplified.
