the story is so boring, I just can't
It pains me because I wanted to like this game, but I couldn't care less about toshiro and his family ♥♥♥♥... The dialog is so painfully redundant, the characters say the same thing over and over again in many or even the same cutscene, is too annoying.

and the combat is too simplistic, it's like tactical rpg for babies and no, I won't turn up the difficulty, because that only will make me die in one shot.

I really wanted to like this game :apafrog:

Yeah, plot is probably the weakest part of the game. It seems that writer has graphomania and was not able to stop. For me it's bad, because after I read this much water I just tend to skip everything. But even after reading everything lot of things don't really make sense.

I feel the game was rushed. I got my refund back. Rather play it for free in a couple of months

You won't get one shotted even on merciless. It takes multiple rifle shots or few melee hits from the big guys. Even in the DLC campaign I don't think there was anything that could one shot you.

I think it's totally fair not to like the story, but it sounds like you didn't even try the harder difficulties. Instead of one shotting they need you to think about your approach, and some stages are pretty tough. More like it sounds to me you just don't enjoy the game, when the solution for the "baby game" is to ramp up the difficulty so it turns tactical.

it is already tactical, but the mechanics are kinda clunky, even forcing you to missposition yourself to do the triangle attack, that I don't even want to try the harder difficulties.

thats part of the strategy. take a risk to get more damage over a wider area.

The gameplay is perfectly fine. Boring, but functional. Not very creative.

It really is the lamesauce narrative that hurts me... and meh dialogue... and replaying tropes from P5 as if we didn't spend 100+ hours with these dweebs already.

It's been annoying watching Atlus dodge dealing with P5R in any meaningful way. They knew P5R was on the way, but in a dancing game, they didn't come up with any way to get Sumire into the game or add her later at least as DLC. So P5D wasn't really realized at all. Then P5S comes and is the "sequel" to the obsolete version of P5 while pretending that Akechi just straight-up doesn't exist. And now, P5T, where the characters are in their most shallow, boring forms. The Phantoms Thieves are good characters, but not when they're regurgitated like this, or the complexities and questions surrounding their characters are flat-out ignored.

Yes, and the perk on skill tree that moderately recovers HP after triangle attack encourages you to be aggressive with it. If it didn't force you out of cover to use it properly it would be too easy to hug walls all game.

Well yes. Since the canon ending of Royal is the true ending in which a certain characters attempts to overwrite reality are undone, Or in other words, pretty much all of the Royal content didn't actually happen.

The characters still retain their experiences, and that hasn't been faithfully represented in P5 content since P5R.

When Maruki's actualisation causes cognitive dissonance the side effect is usually amnesia - we see this with both Sumire and Rumi - or insanity. Since the reality is Maruki was never hired as a councillor and Ren spent the third semester in custody testifying against Shido it's deliberately ambiguous as to whether anyone remember the events as the game portrayed them (if indeed they happened to begin with, it's layered) or not - note for example Sumire shows no acknowledgement of Morgana during the ending despite being close enough to have heard him speak, nor does anyone, Ren included, give any indication they recognise Maruki.
