SEGA not allowing pre-order in certain countries (Kinda f-up?)
Same thing they are doing with Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Since it went up both Gaiden and this one doesn't have preorder prices in some countries. Some probably because of the unstable currency of those countries (Which is pretty shi**y practice they are locking preorder content from some countries) but also Ukraine is along those countries (With a stable currency since around 7 years) so maybe they are worried of the value changing because of the ongoing war? which is pretty fu** up if it is the case (cool way to support them).

Also SEGA hasn't said anything about this so your guess is as good as mine as to why they are doing this...

I can't even purchase any of the SEGA games in my country, lol

Cant buy most konami games in Vietnam. Not Sega. More like government regulations.

Yeah this is kinda concerning. There's a whole ass pre-order bonus for P5T and you can't even do that here in India lol.

You'd think they'd just get regional pricing right instead of whatever this is.
Broso Jun 21, 2023 @ 11:25am
They also did that for LaD: Ishin. People from those countries could not pre-order the game and thus missed out on the pre-order bonuses one of which is a sword that has characteristics that aren't found on any other weapon in the game and so far they don't seem to care to make it available seperately. How insane is it to make an actually gameplay wise unique item pre-order exclusive and then exclude certain regions from pre-ordering altogether?

Come release day, the game was available for purchase in those regions, at a relatively high regional price. So people from those regions were allowed to buy it at a high regional price but they had NO chance at getting any pre-order stuff.

Apparently this is a trend now and it's an absolutely disgusting practice toward all those people affected. They are in effect now second rate customers. They get to pay a high full price if they buy at release but they get no pre-order stuff since pre-order isn't allowed for them, not even a day before the release day.

I was going to pre-order LAD Gaiden, but now I won't, ♥♥♥♥ Sega, I will just buy Armored Core instead.

It does make sense a little, I would imagine that they can't change the price tag for the next 5 month so they don't wont to risk it? Also they might have an idea of the number of people buying them in those shops with VPN or other means. A shame.

They do release the games in those regions on release day just like with all other regions. The only difference is that people from those regions get completely screwed out of pre-orders and in some cases that can be a significant disadvantage. If they are going to release it everywhere on release day anyway, why not at least give those regions SOME kind of pre-order period? Even if it was just a day. But nothing will probably change about this unless they get to feel some economical consequences of this kind of despicable practice.

This is really nasty of them. Shame, Sega and Atlus used to have good regional pricing.

I've seen prices of preorders change, it can be done. For example Callisto Protocol had a very low price in certain countries and it got bumped up a few days later.

But I assume it really is about unstable currencies, though India isn't too bad, there are 'worse' countries that can preorder. Still strange, they could at least release a statement

Somehow, SEGA is still perceived as the little guy even though their business practices are just as bad as Nintendo's lol

Ukraine can't pre-purchase too. Just like LAD Gaiden.
Seems like Thailand joined the list of undesirables.

I guess by the time Metaphor RePhantasy releases, only USA, Japan and maybe EU will be able to pre-order.

But if it was about unstable currency, then why did they release the games just fine on release day so far, albeit at a high regional price? If they can release the game, they can find a way to not screw people out of pre-order bonuses.

The only reason I've in mind is that a price increase won't be well received. But honestly at this point I imagine they have taken this drastic decision because they might feel screwed somehow (I imagine VPN buyers)

Contact Sega, just to clear it out that it would be nice that the game would be on pre order at least a few weeks before release because of the "pre order bonuses". Maybe they will understand it or maybe they are already planning to do this.

people still preorder in 2023??
