Building Metro Track
OK, I am wondering why it is so difficult to build track in CIM2 as well as adding stops/stations (not depots). Are there any tips to building a metro rail network? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have tried a few times within CM2 but I think the issue is at least on the map I used was the fact it the city was different levels, thus meaning building large sections of track would start underground but would then conflict as it pops out and in some cases above ground.

I only in the end built a small section of track and then abandoned it, but what I found best was working small sections at a time

I hope it helps, but it's all I can really offer you, I will be watching this topic to see what other people write

Iv never found it to difficult. What problems are you two having? I mean you usualy get some little red text (collison or something) - what does this say?

I build a metro depot and when I go to extend track from it, It will not join, even if I use the page down to lower the track to the station level or worse, it comes out the side of it if it does manage to join so it looks like a Y. All I seem to get when laying track from a depot/station is errors or it comes from the opposite side if it manages to come straight off.

When connecting to a depot (or other track) make sure the end of the track is green. Not the main body of the track.
On the screenshots bellow the bottom will not work which is possibly what is happening in your depot.

Also DON'T set the height. If you leave it at +/-0 then it will automaticly go to the high needed to connect. After you have clicked (and are choosing where you want the track to go) then set the depth.

Can you set the depth deep enough to go under water at some point?

OK, I was able to answer that question by doing, and now am also able to start track from a depot, but now I can't set a route from it, I get an error saying that no pathway is found after starting at a depot and going to any station along the track. :wall:

When you say no pathway is found are you refering to where you pick a route (when you are clicking on all the stations)?

Yes.

Can you confirm that the depot in the screenshot is depot 5? If not then the problem is that you cannot run a line through a depot like that. You need to go round it.

That is depot 5, I clicked that just before I went to click on the station. I started up the game just to make that screenshot and ended up playing a couple of hour even though I should be packing.

So is it fixed or not? I hope you enjoy your trip. You need to rembember that vehicals cannot turn around in CIM2 like they can in CIM1. Your route needs to eiteher be a circle or loolypop shape so vehicls don't need to change direction.

No, it isn't fixed. I have no idea on how to get the train to leave Depot 5 and go to that first stop.

Do you mind sending me the file (I have sent you a freind request)? Its quite hard to understand your layout from the text descriptions and hence work out why it does not work.

I accepted the invitation, what file is it that you need? That particular saved file for that city?
