I own a bit of the Paradox's games. They have many different kinds of war and sim type games. They moved onto other games. Personally I don't like Skyline. At some point it makes sense the developer is going to move on.

i want more talented studios to develop simulation games. all game industry talents go to shooters games, rpgs and rts. so quality of the genre has lagged 5 years behind of other genres

I thought Collasal said in an interview they would possibly start on CIM3 a few years after Cities Skylines so that all the bugs in that game would be fixed

Would love CIM3....

well - cities: skylienes especially with all the awesome mods and assets is much much much more than CiMs. Rather than developing a new game from the start (which would be awesome) they should simply incorporate all the mechanics with all its depth (if not even more) to Skylines making it ultimate city builder/planner. Of course, Skylines overloaded with mods starts up literally in 30 min+ and can get unstable AF, thats a downside. They would of course "open" CiM2 for modding, what would be nearly as awesome as making new game or incorporating it to Skylines

i guess cim2 sales is much lower than skylines.
there not going to make a CIM3 as thier greedy & will instead make a Cities Skylines 2. Cities In Motion & V2 were only made so that CO & Paradox could fund enough money to make cities skylines

it sucks when devs only make games that give them fortune. my favorate genre is simulation. and good simulation is scarce becuz talented people want to make only military shooters

CIM 1 was so much better.

how can u say cim1 is better? even with less than 20000 pop, all streets are clogged up, buses all running together.. damn i was so glad they added time schedules in cim 2

I was looking at it from a very superficial perspective. The UI and mods were quite sharp in CIM 1, but yes gameplay could be a challenge.

I literally installed CIM 2 for the first time yesterday and not sure I am going to devote my limited time to learning it. Also, with a 60% Steam approval rate (much lower than CIM 1's old ratings), I am not the only one apparently not thrilled with it.

I bought Cities Skylines aeons ago, so I installed that one too. Being it was/is so incredibly popular, I was let down. It did not look like the screen shots, ha!

I found the original Train Fever to be fun despite being flawed of course. I think with CIM 2 and CS, you really have to be serious city builders, and I may be getting a bit old to tackle the learning curve.

Oh dear, gossip girls. First of all they said they won't do new CIM anytime soon as they don't have much to offer for that genre after 2. Skylines is what it is, sold about 10 times more than this game, so naturally it has their focus for now, but they also said they won't consider Skylines 2 anytime soon. So remains to be seen what simulation game they will come up with next since they've said they have ideas and vision for something completely new.

they think cim 2 is a complete game for transport genre? i dont think so. while it is a very good game and i enjoyed it a lot, there are still rooms for improvement. they lied. cim 3 wont get them a lot of money and im sure they make skyline 2 than cim 3 when they start working again

You missed the point. For them, it doesn't offer much of challenges at this point in time. It's not complete, but new version would be more just fine tuning the existing rather than creating something completely new. They've never excluded it fully, but as of now, it is not on the roadmap.

Stealthy and developers, it should be one the roadmap beause there are major issues with aspects of the game, and CIM3 could iron these out as well as adding missing bits.
As for us having to buy Cities Skylines: well its 64 bit and I (and many others) are still running 32 bit system and can't afford to upgrade our whole system just for the ability to play Skylines (which there should have been a 32 bit vrsion of anyway)
1. if one creates a map and goes to all the trouble of putting in parks and gardens, later in Sandbox mode, those areas are overiden by the game engine and towers grow in parks. Schools are just simply wiped out if they don't get a transport service quickly enough, Shopping centre grow where one doesn't need them and there are countless others. This needs an area tool that says to game engine don't develop in these painted area, or keep this area for residential only and this area for commercial.
2. Fix the issue where buildings grow beside none sidewalk pedestrian paths.
3. add in some of the of building mods that have disappeared from cim1 to cim2 like airports, harbours, wharves, allow proper rail station buildings like termminals.
4. allow different colours for different lines but use the exisiting colours of transport types as arrows in the middle of those lines - something that we can differentiate with
5. Allow the people waiting tags to be turned off
6. Have the ability to add in different building types from different regions of the world for instance, unbeknown to Europe and USA, there are actually Asian style buildings thaet fot in very well to modern city cultures and architecture styles. Why wasn't that included.
7. Have the ability to build buildings in sandbox mode that override the game growth engine and have the game engine leave them alone.
8. and that silly pop-up "build me a line from here to here and I'll give you $XXXX" facility , get rid of it. It's a nuisance, and code developed for this could be given over to that aspects above.
These are just some of the issues I'd be enhancing in this game to make it REALLY GREAT.
