we definitively need the DARK log-file for any trouble-shooting.
Therefore please include the following file
%appdata%\Kalypso Media\Dark\log.txt
in your mail.

Thanks!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled as well and that didn't help.

I've got some issues, too. I don't have any Dark\log.txt because it just says "Failed to initialize the engine" after login.

Same Issue and no data log to be found this needs a fix asap

No problems on my side. Failure to load engine sounds to me like either too weak hardware (graphic is not sufficient to play the game) or corrupt files from downloading the game. Try checking for any file errors.
Hope your problems can be fixed though...

Its not hardware I am sure of that. I am currently reinstalling the game and will post an update if it worked or not.

I have re-installed and verified the files. The Game engine still fails to initialize :\ I hope there is a fix soon I really wanted to play this game :(

Edit: I have gotten the game tp play! It appears to have something to do with my initial screen resolution which was (1768x992) when dropping the res to (1280x720) I was able to sucessfully launch the game and change the resoluion ingame to suit my screen. THIS IS STILL A BUG in my oppinion and I hope it will be corrected soon. Hope this helps someone :)

Mine ain't a hardware issue either, my resolution is set to 1920x1080 yet lowering it doesn't make a difference, I still can't play.

I am having the same issue, i have tried to locate the Config file in the game directory to see if it is the resolution that i set it to in game that is causing the failure however i am unable to locate the config file. They have a Config description file but nothing more.

And this is not a hardware issue, I had the game playing before its just that after i closed it and now i am trying to start it back up it will not start.

Changing the resolution seemed to fix it for me as well even though its annoying to do.

we are thankful for every feedback and are working on a fix for that issue.

Please send us an email to support@kalypsomedia.com and include your DXDIAG as well as the log.txt from the DARK Appdata Folder.

Here's how you find the log.txt:

1. Click Windows Start Button.
2. Choose "Run" (XP)/Highlight "Search" (Vista/7).
3. Enter "%appdata%" (without quotes), hit Enter.
4. Locate the folder Kalypso Media -> DARK.

To create the DxDiag.txt, please do the following:

1. Click "Start" button and choose "Run". Or alternatively, press (Windows-Button)+R.
2. Then type "dxdiag" (without quotation marks) and click Ok.
3. You will find all relevant information in the following window.
4. Click the "Save all Information" button, located at the bottom of the program window.
5. Save the file as "dxdiag.txt".
6. Attach the file "dxdiag.txt" with your E-mail reply.

If you are unable to find the log file please send only the DxDiag and check the folder tomorrow again. We are working on a fix for that problem.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

In my case, there is no Dark.log inside the folder, nor in Dark, nor in Launcher.

Change your resolution to 1280X720 that fixed my issue, you can fix it back after.
Byakko Jul 5, 2013 @ 6:46am
I've allready tried, to no much avail.
I've noticed the 5mb update on it, but this didn't work at all in my case :(
Also even if changing the resolution, it'd still be a bug that needs squashing.
