Playing TR3: Lost artifact

Step 1:
Download the lost artifact CD data from online (google is your friend)

Step 2:
Extract the CD data into a folder of your choise

Step 3:
Enter the folder you extracted your TR3 Lost artifact CD and delete tr3gold.exe

Step 4:
Locate your Tombraider 3 folder in your steam folder and copy tomb3.exe and paste it to your Lost artifact folder, afterwards rename it to tr3gold.exe

Step 5:
In your last artifact folder rename the trla.dat to TOMBPC.dat (requires you to show file names completely)

Step 6:
Add the game to your steam library or just launch it from the exe in the last artifact folder


[IMPORTANT!]

Some bugs will occure while playing the game with this gimick

Bug1: Secrets wont show propperly (the game uses the statistics from the original TR3 game showing the secret counts in the order the original game had. (aka first level shows 6 secrets allthough there are only 3) the correct counts for each level is 3 secrets

Bug2: Sometimes the sounds glitch forcing you to restart tha game or if you are into it, listen high pitched static bursts

Bug3: the last levels last boss cant be beaten because of colliding script issue.

but all in all you will get most of the experience.

i think that the dll files from trla cd cause problems eg: winplay.dll winsdec.dll winstr.dll edec.dll dec130.dll . They can be overwritten with the same files from the tr3 folder in steam. Also with this solution tr3 lost artifact can be played in 1920 1080 resolution

the dlls from tr3 steam are newer version than the dlls from trla cd

Does this also prevent the boss bug? Seems kinda silly to me to finish an expansion pack and not beat the game boss.

If you don't want to rename the .dat file you can modify the following positions in the game file to change the paths. This changes the game from checking for tombpc.dat to checking for trtla.dat

Hello All, I'm trying to locate the files on Google with no luck. Several pages which claim to host the files don't seem to actually work, and one set of files I downloaded don't appear to be in a useable format. Would anyone be able to help please?

had the same issue and also ended up changing the config file, i thought it was because of my pc 'tho
i read that the MMX setting often causes issues
