Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft

Logitech Dual Action Controller setup
Trying to get my Logitech Dual Action controller working with TR3. Game only gets input from left stick. Steam shows Generic Gamepad detected and it works with Steam interface itself just fine. When I check Generic Gamepad Configuration Support it stops working completely. Other controller settings don't seem to affect it.

Does your controller have a "mode" switch (Dinput/Xinput)?
To use a "Steam Input" configuration (mapping your controller buttons to the keyboard controls in the game) you may need to disable (or fix) the Steam Overlay for the game. See this other discussion:

I did the dgVoodoo fix and that helped with graphics, not sure if it made had any effect on the overlay mode. Disabling overlay didn't change anything. I installed Logitech Profiler and found an option to switch D-Pad and left stick there, so now I can use the D-Pad in the game menu instead of left stick, but that's it. Must be a problem with mapping buttons to keys, don't understand how to do that.

The old TR games support Dinput controllers, but the buttons still need to be assigned manually in the User Keys section of the Controls menu.

The various menu options, and all the controls in the game, are explained in the "Manual" for the game - downloadable in .pdf format via a link in the General tab of the Properties window (right-click the game name in your Steam Library list).

For newer Xinput controllers, some buttons cannot be assigned in-game, so it is necessary to use an external mapper that associates the controller buttons with the keyboard controls for the game.

The external mapping can be done using Logitech Profiler, or Steam Input (user profiles available), or one of many other apps. This guide for JoyToKey may help to explain what is required, and the typical button assignments: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=644307505
How do I tell if my controller is using DInput or XInput?

Logitech Profiler may tell you, but it doesn't really matter.

The point is you should try assigning controller buttons as User Keys. If some don't work, then you will need to use an external mapper.

Note also that you can set whether the game responds directly to a controller by enabling the "joystick" option on the setup screen, accessed using the launch option: -setup
Thanks for your help! I got it working by disabling Steam Input and assigning User Keys in the game. For some reason it didn't let me assign D-Pad explicitly, but it started working anyway. Not quite sure if I've done something else also, but D-Pad didn't seem to work fully before.
