FMVs are being skipped!

I just got this game and all of FMV scenes are being skipped. The company logo, the dragon scene, the scene where Lara enters the Great Wall of China... they are all being skipped. I'm not getting a blank screen with sound nor am I getting a really messed up screen. I'm getting no FMV screen at all. It's as if I have FMVs disabled. Yes, I tried checking “Disable FMV” just to see if that would work. It did not.

I was skipping around to different levels using the cheat and noticed that all of the in-game cutscenes are working. The scene in which Lara finds out about Venice or the scene when she wakes up after getting robbed of weapons both play out well. It's just the FMVs that are not playing.

I even uninstalled the Steam version and installed the physical disk version that I still have; same problem. I also installed the disk version of TRIII just see if the problem was just an isolated problem with TRII, and it’s not. No FMVs with TRIII. TRI, however, did play the FMVs.

Primary Display Driver
Hardware 3D Acceleration
Full Screen 1440x900x16 (I tried windowed too and same problem)
Z Buffered, Bilinear Filtered, Dithered, Triple Buffered, Perspective Correct
Primary Sound Driver
Sound enabled
Microphone position on Lara
No joystick
FMV’s enabled

The FMV's are so buggy in this game, I get them but they feel like they're going to break my PC they're that flickery and weird.

What are your settings? I'd like to try them on my laptop to see if I get better results.

I am having similar problems with TR2. The intro and cut-scenes do not play and about 1/3 of the game screen cannot be seen as it is to big for my tv screen whether in fullscreen or windowed mode. I bought the TR package from Steam which had 5 or 6 games in it and am using Windows 10 (alas). I have tried altering settings with the setup utitlity and can manage to get full game screen ( but very small window ) but still no cut scenes. All fixes that I have looked up are either out of date or do not exist any more. As usual Steam support is pathetic and this is just another in a long line of older games sold by Steam that do not work or take hours of research to find and install fixes. Hopefully someone in the community will take pity on an old gamer who wants to relive the joys of playing this game and offer a solution.

*Videos*: I've had the best luck with 1280x720 True Color in fullscreen. One of my workaround attempts in windowed mode tottaly screwed up videos.

*Videos*: Using F12 to toggle between fullscreen and windowed modes also broke my videos. I had to launch with the "-setup" command and reset.

Xbox 360 Controller & TR2:
The .CFG is posted, just make a template profile within JoyToKey and paste with Notepad.

weird, i ll get little time black screen then on windowed mode those vids, i get intro, great wall intro, dragon intro all plays but it takes little time like 1-2s to show that vid on windowed mode then game goes to full screen.. i have win10, legasy drivers installed (nvidia) and it works perfectly. no need to adjust anything no admin, resolution nor any other annoying BS

Hi, i am having the same problem, i downloaded tr2 on steam and it was showing fmv scene but no in-game music background, so i got a link from a user on steam that gave me a patch to copy on my tr2 folder destination, it is now playing music background but skips fmv scenes, i am trying to get back in touch with the user but haven't heard from him, does anyone know how i can solve this?
