Controller Not Working: How I Fixed it.
Just spent about 2 hours trying to fix this and I've not seen it mentioned here (Might of missed it) I thought it might be worth just writing it here.

If you are having trouble getting the controller to work on the game, go to...
- Browse Local Files...
- find the Tomb2 Application...
- Right Click... Properties...
- Compatibility...
- Untick the box under Compatibility mode that says "Run this program in compatibility mode".

Seems like the Compatibility mode was preventing the Steam-Overlay so the controller settings wouldn't function either(?) ...

Hope this helps anyone having the same issues I did. I'm going to go play TR2 now :)

can't fix this. The game just blocks controller inputs no matter what i do.
The tests confirm the bug as i run the game with steam off with the controller tested in windows configurations all working fine, but in game it just does not. Also gave a shot on joytokey to confirm my suspicious.

So TR1 controller works fine executing it from steam, had to do anything. TR2 simply does not work.
What a garbage service this is. I am better off using emulators and playing off steam them thinking i could count on steam to use the feature that i like, playing on steam and using controller setups from steam.

But noooo , no one with relevant importance that could really fix this cares about it. It is kind very disrespectful!

Steam Input is linked to the Steam Overlay, which doesn't work properly with most of the original TR games. To use a Steam Input controller configuration, you can either disable or fix the overlay:

I used controller companion
https://store.steampowered.com/app/367670/Controller_Companion/
BUT steam seems to have recently nativ support for controllers for every game. So if you have enabled your controller on the steam options you can right click on every game and set a special setting for your own :UltraPlayBox:

Thank you. Worked!

This worked for me.

(I'm also using the "automated fix" for TRII).
Caronte Jul 6, 2021 @ 10:17am
Actually that was the only way that worked for me. Thanks :)

Guys, steam already allows native settings for your controllers. You need to enable it on settings and after that you must Rclick on the game > administer/manage (don't have it on English so it should be named like those) controller settings and there you are. You can also download community settings or create your own with multiple options like using Rstick for weapons hotkeys, a second setting pressing one button and having 4 extra weapons, etc.

IN Steam Overlay edit the control scheme in the overlay (RB on Xbox controller), Left Shift to change it to Right Shift on the keyboard; Lara still does the walking moves regardless on what Shift button you press.
Lara does those sidewalks with supr/del and avpag.
