Thank you Eddy !
The tests confirm the bug as i run the game with steam off with the controller tested in windows configurations all working fine, but in game it just does not. Also gave a shot on joytokey to confirm my suspicious.
So TR1 controller works fine executing it from steam, had to do anything. TR2 simply does not work.
What a garbage service this is. I am better off using emulators and playing off steam them thinking i could count on steam to use the feature that i like, playing on steam and using controller setups from steam.
But noooo , no one with relevant importance that could really fix this cares about it. It is kind very disrespectful!

BUT steam seems to have recently nativ support for controllers for every game. So if you have enabled your controller on the steam options you can right click on every game and set a special setting for your own
(I'm also using the "automated fix" for TRII).
