What is everything? Where's the description of my inventory items?

How come there's no description of the items in inventory, anywhere? I was putting the stuff in my inventory to make a fuel cell but I have no description of any of the items. So I have no idea what is used for what. OK, maybe I missed it some how but the window with the inventory and the buttons on top that lets you look at the NPC's is there so where is the item description? Come on Dev this is something that's needed right out the box, which is why I am hopping I'm just missing it. Because if it's not there then I shouldn't have made this purchase.

Is there a wiki with the inventory descriptions on it?

I just stopped playing the game because of this. It seems they think its acceptable that controller users are not able to see item descriptions for some wild reason.
