Player wage demand
Hello,
I am in the works of creating a fantasy database with Samoa for my own personal wage. I notice that when I start a save, and approach players, they ask for pretty huge wages. I manage a "rich" club, with around 4-5M€ in the bank, but this is just annoying. Is there anyway to regulate how much players ask for to play for a club in a given nation? "weekly wage values" doesn't seem to work for me...
Thanks ALOT in advance!

Player wages are quite complicated, and I think Football Manager generally does a good time of illustrating the demands that I imagine real life footballers make.

Unfortunately, it's not very clear from your post what wage budget you have, which players you're going after, how interested in joining your club they are, or quite how "huge" the wages being requested are.

I note, of course, that you have a custom database. And, I'm not sure how you would've done that, or what impact that would've had either.

Hello Sam, thanks for your answer. We are talking players that have a current ability of around 75-85. They all ask around a monthly wage of 16.000€. I have set the transfer budget to around 500.000€, and an even lower wage budget, in a league with a reputation of 42, and a team of a repution of 3000. I am just having some fun playing some custom databases, in between my semesters, and I am not that deep into the whole "editing" stuff. I would like to make the players demand, what I would consider, more realistic wages - I don't believe that is the case at the moment, but perhaps I am wrong. Thanks once again for taking your time to answer.

Depending on their expected playtime they might demand a contract update. Subs are less likely to demand this than starter XI players. So a Star Player is more likely to do this than a Squad Player, for example. It also has to do with how the transfer market works (especially the RSL clubs once they get an interest in your players and you block the transfer they will ask for a contract update to stay in the club as to compete with the other club offered values).

Hmm, a reputation of 3000 would put your team in the range of a high League Two team? Perhaps a low League One, if I'm not mistaken? I think it's in that ball park anyhow. Euros to pounds, you're looking at more or less £13,500 a month? Or say, £3.5k a week?

It's probably on the higher end of what I'd be hoping to pay at that level, but I wouldn't say it ventures into the realms of being wildly inaccurate.

Unfortunately, being at a lower level can sometimes see players demand higher wages, to "drop down" that far. In my save where I'm Championship Swansea, I tried to sign an 18 year old, regen, Australian CB from the Eredivisie. I offered him to be a star player, with wages of 18.5k a week - and he asked for 15k. Yet, he ended up signing with Premier League Newcastle for 1.9k a week, as a breakthrough prospect.

I've not delved into custom databases, or the editor, so I can't really advise you there! I'm not sure you can limit the amounts players ask for, or alter the terms of a contract once they've signed? Hopefully someone else might be able to offer a suggestion there.

Among other things, the FM Editor allows the edit of a player contract with a club (so you can say make Mbappé earn pennies instead of pounds if you so desire). The Editor is actually an impressive tool to check and change many things around your savefiles.
