In terms of the changes, I'd bought every Football Manager from about 2008, up till the 2022 edition. I then skipped 2023, and bought the 2024 edition instead. Truth be told, there was very little change between 2022 and 2024.
I can't remember FM20 very well, but I haven't noticed any massive changes over the past few years!
I think there's maybe been some new roles? Wide centre back, and maybe some midfield roles? Nothing else comes to mind.
I hear FM25 will be quite different to the past few editions, with a new engine and such! So you may want to wait, but then, different doesn't always mean better.
The downside that others mentioned in the thread is that morale and player interactions are oversensitive this year so that is a bit annoying. Tactics will only work once you go past the morale phase, which might take a season or two.
Personally I like the match engine and how tactics work a lot more than the older versions and I couldn't go back to playing without the defence improvements. Since the franchise has an uncertain future, if I were you and money is not a big issue I'd grab it on sale as it's potentially the last good fm.
Might change my mind when the reviews are over the top
Get FM 24 if you can in a sale, otherwise, I would wait for FM 26. I am skipping FM 25 myself.
They still act like that? damn.. It feels so unreal to play and have that type of issues with your main players.
What I find interesting is that you don't like the game- which is fine. But you still hang around the discussion board. The game was free quite a while ago now. What are you doing here still?
This is so gamebreaking, and feels so accurate over my experience. Im in my 10th season as AIK manager in Sweden, with what that is, 10 League titels, CL etc etc.
Story short, I had 15 out of 25 players unappy and wanted to leave for the reason you are describing. All rather new signings, so basiacially you have to rebuild the squad every transfer window. With what that is in terms of low bids from AI and.
My point is, You can spend 100 hours ingame and your save will be ruin cause of this. Why is game like this after so many years?
You don't have to, there are ways to make your players not unhappy.
Accept that you will put them on the transfer list.
Put their asking price as high as possible.
(player is happy)
Almost no clubs will put in a bid because the asking price exceeds the actual value of the player.
Job done.
