Should I buy this on sale or put my money into the 25?
Im an old FM player, last years didnt buy them. As they had little difference between eachother, only new players thats all.
Any suggestion from veteran players playing this?

which was the last version you actually played , depending on how far back as to how many differences there might be ? i dont feel like fm24 is quite as good as some of the last few years though, the balance feels off in a couple things like player interactions and squad management ect , but id be cautious of fm25 atm and too as theres going to be a lot of major changes including a new engine so who knows if it will be good yet , personally im going to wait awhile for reviews and feedback an see how the new one measures up

Some months ago, Epic Games gave out copies of Football Manager 24 for free, so I'd feel rather aggrieved paying for it now, but that's maybe just me. If you're going to pick a copy up, I'd try and buy it on sale though.

In terms of the changes, I'd bought every Football Manager from about 2008, up till the 2022 edition. I then skipped 2023, and bought the 2024 edition instead. Truth be told, there was very little change between 2022 and 2024.

I can't remember FM20 very well, but I haven't noticed any massive changes over the past few years!

I think there's maybe been some new roles? Wide centre back, and maybe some midfield roles? Nothing else comes to mind.

I hear FM25 will be quite different to the past few editions, with a new engine and such! So you may want to wait, but then, different doesn't always mean better.

Also came from old games such as 2005 onwards. FM 24 is probably the worst football management game I've ever played. The menus are a joke. The layout looks like a 5 year old designed it, bugs everywhere. menu sort filters reset to random every time you back in and out. Features from old games are missing such as the window in match where you could view all players match stats, now only viewable at half time for some reason. Everything else requires endless clicks on drop down menus to view. It's a pain in the arse. Also non league teams play the exact same as real madrid. Spent 2 minutes setting a team and tactic up, and we play perfect football for some reason and rifle screamers from 35 yards in to the top corner with long shots 3
Compared to the past few versions there's been some improvements in terms of AI, especially in defence and GK although there's still a way to go. Animations are smoother and have physics now, which means players don't go through others. There are a bunch of new roles and tactics in general works quite well in this version.

The downside that others mentioned in the thread is that morale and player interactions are oversensitive this year so that is a bit annoying. Tactics will only work once you go past the morale phase, which might take a season or two.

Personally I like the match engine and how tactics work a lot more than the older versions and I couldn't go back to playing without the defence improvements. Since the franchise has an uncertain future, if I were you and money is not a big issue I'd grab it on sale as it's potentially the last good fm.
ok thanks for the feedback.. I'll wait for the '25 then

I would stick to fm24. Nobody knows how well fm25 gonna work with the engine. I fear, there will still be a lot of problems with the engine. This, and the fact that fm26 will probably be more polished out and "only" release like a half year after fm25 due to the release delay, i will probably skip fm25.
Might change my mind when the reviews are over the top

good point
Honestly, if you can't get FM 24 on sale, then I would wait for FM 26. FM 25, is literally only going to be out for half a year before FM 26 releases, FM 26 should be a more complete version than FM 25 is anyway.

Get FM 24 if you can in a sale, otherwise, I would wait for FM 26. I am skipping FM 25 myself.

I got it on epic when it was free, played 1 season, and uninstalled it. It`s just too easy, and there`s very little challenge, aside from trying not to swear when a player comes banging on the door with his mates, moaning about something dumb 2-3 times a week.

Him - "I demand you let me go out on loan to continue my development"

Me - "But you`re in the first team, and we`re top of the league by 12 points in January"

Then his gang come along..

"We can`t trust you anymore, you`re standing in the way of his career"

Me - "But...but...but....he`s 2nd top scorer, and has made a ton of 1st team apps ?!"

Angry red faces - "We don`t want to talk to you any more, you suck !"

Asst manager - "The meeting did not go well"

Once a season as a glitch I could probably take, but it`s all the damn time !

I`d be furious if I paid money for it.

They still act like that? damn.. It feels so unreal to play and have that type of issues with your main players.

What I find interesting is that you don't like the game- which is fine. But you still hang around the discussion board. The game was free quite a while ago now. What are you doing here still?

This is so gamebreaking, and feels so accurate over my experience. Im in my 10th season as AIK manager in Sweden, with what that is, 10 League titels, CL etc etc.

Story short, I had 15 out of 25 players unappy and wanted to leave for the reason you are describing. All rather new signings, so basiacially you have to rebuild the squad every transfer window. With what that is in terms of low bids from AI and.

My point is, You can spend 100 hours ingame and your save will be ruin cause of this. Why is game like this after so many years?

You don't have to, there are ways to make your players not unhappy.

Accept that you will put them on the transfer list.

Put their asking price as high as possible.

(player is happy)

Almost no clubs will put in a bid because the asking price exceeds the actual value of the player.

Job done.
