U21 players and team.
In which world, does a 30+ year old player get to play in an U21 side - I hazard a guess, only in FM24....

Ridiculous.

depends on the rules of the league ect . . . for some teams the U21 side is a genuine youth team playing in a youth league , in some its simply a reserve side and can be playing in open but lower divisions ect. Most will have a limit either way as to how many over 21 players can be named in the squad , Not sure what your point of this is? Even in real life this happens , the under 21's world cup allows for a few over-age players to be named in the squad. Olympic squad for example can have 3 over-age players

Interesting, my playing days are long over, but I've never encountered such a thing tbh.

It seems counter intuitive, but if you say it's normal, I have to accept that.

Thanks

Unfortunately, it does happen in real life, and so, it happens in the game. I agree though, it's very peculiar.

That said, what I find more strange is when you have players that are 22, 23 or so - and they still count towards U21 players, I've never quite got my head around that! I think it's something to do with being 21 or under at the time of whatever the competition is starting, but it's something I've never quite fully understood!

yes , if they are still under the age cap when the cut-off occurs then its fine

Typically the rules are that players must be 21 or under when the competition starts. International tournaments technically start in the years leading up to the "finals".

Making much more sense people, thanks for all the input...still, I thought it was a bug when a 39 year old player starts for the U21's....

i think the u21 could just be another name for the reserve team.

Actually not, there are U19's, U21's and also Reserves....

My team is in premier league year 2029. u21 rules in my game is.
Maximum of 5 outfield over 21 players
Maximum of 1 goalkeeper over 21

So in my U21 i can have 6 players in total, older then 21, with no max age.

The info to see this ingame. Click on "Under 21s"
Then on Squad, then Overview.
Info will be at bottom below players. Unless you use a skin, i am playing with default interface.

i agree but not all teams have that though. sometimes i dump players who arent playing for the 1st team into the u21 no matter their age.
