Create a player

Is it possible to create a player or do i have to pay something to do it?

you can do that in a number of ways. first there is the pre-game editor where you can add a player to the database and completely flesh out the player you want and either add him to a team or leave him without a contract, ready to be picked up in free transfer.
secondly there is the option to create a player when you are in create a club mode. you have the option to create your own custom player there as well, but contrary to the pre-game editor, this is bound by financial restrictions, you have to stay within your allocated budget for your team overhaul.

this might sound a bit complicated but it's all quite self explanatory once you get into the nitty gritty of it all.
