Compared to FM23
I am really enjoying FM23, but how does this compare?

Match engine seems very much improved
Players seem to get annoyed too easily
Long shots seem to go in more often, and more unrealistically (could be connected to match engine).

Any other issues, and would you suggest I wait for updates until, say, Christmas?

I have bought it, but you could easily wait. In my opinion its a bit of a mess right now, already had one update and now im not playing it until the next one comes out. If you are happy on FM23, just stick to it until after new year.

I think 24 is a massive improvement over 23 personally. The ME fluidity alone is worth it to me. Long shots are a bit overtuned though I’d agree with that. However if you’re someone who was already good at managing player morale then I’d recommend getting the game now.

If that was something you struggled with in prior versions I’d wait to see how the next patch plays out. Right now the morale and promise system is a little unhinged and can be a problem. I’ve lost my room twice in my save this year and had only ever had that happen once in the past 3 years of FM. I’m pretty sure they said they’re looking into it and hopefully it will be patched soon.

You could also look at Daveincid's realism mod which has just gone into beta

Fm24 at the moment is a lot more arcade in style. Although the ME has improved, the tactical balance and challenge is significantly less, with gegenpressing even more OP'd than previously, irrespective to the quality of your team. / suitability to play this style.

Potentially, the game can be the best game in the series if the highlighted problems are fixed / improved upon, and the promises made prior to release are eventually fulfilled.

However whether SI will put the required time needed to achieve this given their priority lays with FM25 at this point remains to be seen.

A game with a lot of promise, but if not given the adequate time and attention it needs to optimise it, then it could end up being a considerable disappointment.

Definitely wait until the New Year, and depending how much you want to spend on it, perhaps check out reviews following the last major update and make a decision from that.

Thanks everyone.

I do see that set pieces are bugged and everything seems easy from looking at a couple of let's play's (South Shieldss getting into the league?)

I'll wait until it's balanced in the New Year
