Most people who only play for a season or two or play in tandem with the real life club they support never realise this as there is no team in the game who start with 11 world class players covering every position.
If the teams are even, then tactics do add another variable but it's only one in a pot of them. Playing at home gives you a big advantage, players can have a good or bad game randomly, weather effects your style of play, so does the pitch and it's size and the list of variables goes on and many of them have nothing to do with the tactics you play but they have a deciding factor on the outcome.
Trust me I've seen it first hand online, the UCL went back to Greece xD
I've ditched it and gone back to FM23 .
Would have very little interest in the next one either.
And totally agree there too. I've only stuck with FM24 as I find it hard going back to anything out-dated, but I mean this is why in a game I was in 17 of 20 people used the same identical roles / dloaded 4231 gegenpress broken tactic, simply because using anything else against it would get smashed. Any logical changes to counter it would make no difference.
Last year's was a lot better balanced and as a result fun to play, with the ability to use several systems and tactical approaches.
FM23 was the best and realistic of the most recent versions released, and FM24 by far the worst.
sadly as you can tell, despite being made aware of the severe problem it got completely ignored and SI didn't bother to even try to fix it within the next two significant patches, despite having more than enough time.
It's why i won't be investing in next year's game and tbh my confidence in them is completely shot following this experience. The only improvement for FM25 is going to be how pretty the game looks. the ME will very likely be neglected as a result, perhaps a little attention will be given to the set pieces though given that was a new design for FM 24.
but yes, it seems a bit pointless when there's something within the game that just overpowers anything else, for no real valid reason.
it's definitely a game more for the solo player this year, so that u can just enjoy winning everything with zero effort, and making those unrealistic footballing dreams one of a reality in the game.
Offline though, only bad players have needed to exploit defending bugs and loopholes to achieve success. That goes straight back to Diablo tactics from twenty years ago, where simply drawing a positioning/forward run arrow from the AMC position between forwards meant that AMC was always making runs the defenders couldn't pick up properly, always guaranteeing you a few extra chances per match and a crucial goal or two. Or the short corner bug ca. FM 2007/2008ish, which could make your centre back the top scorer, as the defending of corners didn't work properly. All of this naturally made player quality moot too. If something isn't properly defended, it's not properly defended, simple as that.
AI managers operate completely different. That's the opposition offline. They have favored formations each edited, for a start. Bias as to how attacking/cautious they are, prefered roles, etc. They also don't stick to a tactic 24/7, but change accordingly, also during a match, adapting to scorelines. Which you could also always witness if you followed AI vs AI matches.
Post above is very right, it just was not fun playing this year's game online because everyone abuses the same exploits and so you're forced to do the same thing if you don't want to get screwed over.
It was a shame though, because if the balance was right tactically this year it probably would have been one of the best FMs released - but without it, it's very much one of the worst, at least with online play.
Here is the tactic i have millions of tactics like this slow tempo short passing etc you just need to think out of the box not put 2 IFs there. YOU NEED ACTUAL BRAIN TO MAKE A TACTIC LOL :D
