This game is so ridiculous
So I had a game against 17th in the league and they had xG of 0.35 and my team 2.44 and yet I lost 0-1. What the f.. is wron with this match engine? This is just ridiculous.

It's good that you made this very relevant post. This is definitely not something that has ever happened in a football match. I am sure the devs will immediately look into this. Consider reloading that match, it has to be a bug.

If this happens once I wouldn't say a thing. But it happens almost every match by now. 9 shots or more to goal, in the mentioned match even 17 shots, and no goal.
While the opponent has one shot and scores being a significantly worse team.

Essentially, Expected Goals (xG) is a metric that's intended to measure the probability of a shot resulting in a goal. The purpose is to show when a player should be expected to score from a particular opportunity, by basically rating how good of a goal-scoring opportunity it is. Tifo Football

the xG score is based of shots on goal, if yours is 2.44 then you had plenty of shots on goal, while your oponents 0.35 means they had few shots but one of theirs went in..

People seem to misunderstand what xG is. if you watch a full match through or on comprehensive, you will notice it change throughout the match after shots at goal taken.

Yeah, I had 17 shots on goal and no goal. I have Gnabry, Müller, Kane, Musiala, Sané, Coman and no one is able to score one goal.

Maybe train them in shooting or attacking movement or change their role or duty.

I already did all of this.

well something about your tactic isn't working and/or wrong roles.

are you playing them in a certain role or letting them play their favoured role.

are you giving them the right motivation during matches. do they get upset with team talks

I literally tried all roles I could but nothing works especially for strikers.
Motivation and morale is fine.

What factors go into xG?
Expected goals (xG) measures the quality of a shot based on several variables such as assist type, shot angle and distance from goal, whether it was a headed shot and whether it was defined as a big chance

New Major update ruined the game and just turned it into fm23.5, scripted repetitive patterns of play and cross simulator where your players miss chance after chance because they nerfed goal output. Beta and full release is so much better there is more chaos and unpredictability and average keepers are not superhuman

I love browsing the threads here.

On one hand you have people getting all emotional because they score way too many goals, on the other you have the ones complaining about not scoring.

You guys should exchange notes, thus solving each other's problems.

How can scoring too many goals even be a problem?

The West Ham keeper decided to have the game of his life against me, he got a 9.9 vs an XG of 5.5 .... crap happens. Game ended 0-0, at least they didn´t score on their only chance.

From studying the opposition I've determined the most effective ways to score which you can try yourself in order to avoid these situations. These are, either tell the player to shoot it in the top corner from a long distance, or tell him to take the ball in his own half and dribble it past 5 or 6 players and then the goalkeeper. The only issue is that you will need players with very low attributes to pull this off.
