Potential ability stars

Hello everyone. Quick random question: can a player of my team have different potential ability stars in two different saves? I made a save with my team and said player was potential 4.5 stars, now that I have redone a new save he is 3.5. How so? Thanks and happy holidays

some players have a fixed potential, some players have a range.
the star rating given is also based on the scout report and that scouts ability at judging players.

The stars for current ability and potential ability are loose guides rather than definitive measures. They're based on staff appraisals of players and based on comparison to other players in your team in that position and the expected standards for your team/league they're in.

It's a useful part of the toolkit to help players contextualise their squads, but it is definitely not intended to be a definitive guide.
