They find new clubs soon enough.
It's also the other way around, sometimes you can get a good price for a bad player which the other clubs have overvalued.
If you can't get rid of them for free, no one simply wants them.
That's why you can try and see if you get any offers if you transfer them for 0, then you know you have clubs that are at least interested. If you're lucky you can start a bidding war this way, other clubs see that the player is highly sought after and then a domino effect happens where suddenly everyone wants the player, even if the player is trash.
Let's take an example; You see a player which attributes are hidden from you, but you know the player is 16 years old and from Brazil, then you see all the big clubs making bids for the player. You know nothing about the player, yet all big boys wants him for their club, so you make a bid, then it turns out he was a 1 star ability with 3 star potential. This can not only be the case for you, but for other clubs as well. It's the FOMO effect. (Fear of Missing Out)
Now I might overestimate the game's trader AI, but I've been in situations which kinda backs this up, but I've also been in situations which doesn't. It's just no way to know how deep it goes without looking at the source code, after all we don't know what the other clubs scouts are telling them. So I recommend trying it and see if it works for you.
IRL players in those leagues do get bought for those sums so if it's not happening in game that's an issue. Other players go for smaller sums.
It used to be far too easy to stack young players and sell for huge profits, but seems they might have gone too far the other way.
On the other hand I had players that listed for 200-400k move for 20k and one guy who was listed at 300k not move on a free transfer due to salary demands and the fact that no one with money wanted him.
It seems to be working as intended at least to me. If any thing selling 2 players for 100k each in the first 2 and a half seasons is a bit higher than I expected but one was a Premier youth release player and one went from 1 star CA to 4 CA in one season with 5 PA. I don't think he'll ever play a match with Cardiff and likely be let go on a free but he is great at our level.
