Unrealistic wage demands

Whats up with these unrealistic wage demands?

I'm playing Football Manager 2023 and I think it's always been bad. I was playing in Bundesliga and I made a player captain. All of a sudden he wants a new contract for four times his current wage.Half the ream is asking fro new contracts throughout the year.

I get promoted to the Bundesliga and 3 or 4 players want huge contracts. So I'm left with a choice, sign them for more than they are worth, or find new players with more reasonable demands.

Had the same in 24. Playing in the Vanarama National league, Players were wanting 1.5K salaries, get promoted to League two, they started wanting 15K salaries. I understand them wanting higher contracts the higher they go but ten times at that level?? What the hell??

Couple ways of dealing with this.

Talk to their agent before trying to negotiate a contract. Agent will say how much they want, you can tell them it's too much and most of the time they'll bring their demands down.
If it's still too much, walk away.

I think this is a new one, don't remember seeing it in any other FM, but you I saw an option yesterday to talk directly to the player to ask them to reduce their wage demands.

Start setting limits with your wage structure.
Players will want more money if you pay others on the same level more than what they're on.
Just look at Man Utd and Barcelona in real life. They started paying people huge amounts of money which opens the door to others on the same level wanting to be paid similar amounts.

2nd Czech Div and it's not too bad, usually around 400-800 p/w beyond my top top players who want 1K-1.4K max. My biggest is a player/coach captain who scored like 28 goals wanted 1.3K a week.

Problem is my club is currently in financial disarray, I did get promoted though!

I have asked agents for free players so many times and always say wage demands are excessive, it's yet to work they always just say they are fair.

Literally the entire team has asked for new contracts after they were promoted to the Bundesliga.

There is no way it is this insane in real life. I can't believe for a second that teams have to renegotiate most of their contracts every year.
