Other than that check it's on the SSD and not a microsd.
there are a few things to keep in mind, firstly the steam deck is a 4 core 8 thread machine, should be enough ofcourse but in comparison the rog ally is an 8 core 16 thread machine. Secondly if you are using the entry level steam deck that uses emmc memory which can be pretty slow, the mid range steam deck is respectable but slower still than the top end 512gb deck. Then ofcourse it will totally depend on the amount of leagues loaded which correlates to the amount of players loaded in the database, but im sure you are aware of all this. Ofcourse FM is typically a game that runs on just about anything quite well, its just spreadsheets afterall but it does scale performance and load times based on hardware.
what i would do is a crytal disk mark test, it will test your SSD performance, i believe stock SSD (emmc 64gb deck) should be minimum 250mb read and just over 200mb write... thats not much faster than a decent SD card and is pretty slow, i have a 2tb SSD upgrade in the rog ally and thats running at just over 5700mb read and 5000 write, stock ally is around 3500mb read.
just for comparison a steam deck 512gb i believe is stock around 2500mb read. But yeh... just make sure everything is as expected with your storage speed. If everything checks out it may be an issue with steam deck specifically at the moment.
In terms of load and save times that heavily depends on database size too. Even my high end PC with gen 4 nvelme takes a while to load and save because I have a 130,000 player database.
It's more the games priorities over hardware. I assume it's probably something to do with Linux or specifically custom amd CPU drivers
My Steam Deck is the 512GB version too.
- When in Desktop Mode, click the folder in bottom left corner.
- Under ‘Devices’ select Home
- In the top right corner, click on the drop menu and make sure ‘Show Hidden Files’ is ticked
- Navigate to /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1904540/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Appdata/local/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2023/Cache or Preferences
- Move the Cache/Preferences folders to your desktop, so they no longer appear in the Football Manager folder.
Hi, I have tried this but the issue remains.
