Sorry I want to see if this is just me....
I'm trying to review this game as a curator, and a need to know something. This is the first time I played shadow warrior and I really like it, there's plenty of love and polish put into a great game. I even enjoyed wanton destruction despite my dislike of some of the design choices. But twin dragon is awful. It started with city of despair, but the invisible mines were terribly done and the main path ways would pass for secrets in the main campaign. Enemy placements are also really cheap leading to stupid deaths. Heck even the par and 3D realms time you get at the end of every level are really lazy(par is 3:00 and 3D realms is 5:00 every level). This just doesn't seem good like the rest of the game. What happened? is it just me not being good at the game?

Yeah those expansions are a lot harder (cheaper) than the original campaign, especially twin dragon. It's not just you.

Thank you for the response. It's too bad because I really like everything else.

I'm not sure the addons were properly finished up, they found what was completed of them and released them as freeware back in the day.

That would make sense. Wanton destruction is still good, if a bit flawed, but twin dragon felt lackluster. I just finished it and that's an expansion I won't go back to very often. Loved the main game though.

Completely agree, the invisible mines were particularly bizarre.

These two expansions were just published as freeware, so I think they worried too much about polishing them up too much. Maybe the invisible mines are a glitch? There a pain in the butt either way though.

I think twin dragon is a mixed bag. It has a few subpar levels like Hide and Seek, Prison Camp and The Warehouse. But it also has some good ones like the Garden, Crazy Train and the Fishing Village.

I agree. Both of the expansions have good elements, even twin dragon. It's just too bad it had so many design problems. I don't think the mines being invisible are a glitch, you can see them just before they explode. If I had to take a guess, everyones saying these expansions were not finished, so maybe the mines were supposed to work differently, like being visible on your map or something.

How has nobody mentioned the fact that the "invisible mines" aren't supposed to be invisible and are a bug caused by the redux version? If you play through dosbox you can see them just fine. By the way, when is that bug ever going to be dealt with? It's pretty gamebreaking

Really? Did not know this. Never ran it through DosBox before.

Huh, interesting. Are there any other major differences between the two versions, in terms of glitches and such?

The mine thing bugged the hell out of me as well. The only reason it was bearable for me in the main game was because I had the positions more or less memorized from the original DOS/Win95 release. Definitely something that needs to be fixed at some point...
