Standard answer, 5th incarnation:

As far as single player gaming is concerned I strongly recommend using the HRP with EDuke32[eduke32.com].
Easiest way - do a clean install:
- Create a new Duke Nukem game directory, for example C:\Duke3D.
- Copy DUKE3D.GRP and (optionally) DUKE.RTS to the game dir.
- Unzip the "current" or latest EDuke32 to the game dir.
- Create the autoload directory within the game dir.
- Get the HRP ZIP package from here[hrp.duke4.net].
- Put your duke3d_hrp.zip into the autoload dir.
- Start eduke32.exe without command line parameters.
- Check "Enable autoload folder" in the startup window.

Still having problems? Join our community and post in this thread[forums.duke4.net], provide additional information:
- Your eduke32.cfg, settings.cfg, and latest eduke32.log (as attachments)
- Which HRP version do you use? (hrp_readme.txt in duke3d_hrp.zip)

If you really want to run the HRP with the Megaton executable (achievements, multiplayer), get the normal HRP 5.4[.674] ZIP file from here[hrp.duke4.net] and one of the three matching Megaton HRP Override packs (r5.4.674) from here[forums.duke4.net]. Do not unzip, except for reading the included text files, of course.

I haven't checked it out in detail, but Azatoth's Guide is looking pretty good and may provide useful additional information for you.

If you really want to run the HRP with the Megaton executable (achievements, multiplayer), get the normal HRP 5.3[.565] ZIP file from here[hrp.duke4.net] and one of the two matching Megaton HRP Override packs (r5.3.565) from here[forums.duke4.net]. Do not unzip, except for reading the included text files, of course.

FYI: We're planning to release a new HRP version within the next couple of weeks.

Alright thank you :D

Thanks pal.
It reminds me I forgot to update the guide and state that your custom packs thread also provides the Megaton Override pack. I'm doing it now.

= = = = Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Mac OS X Yosemite Help = = = =

Hi guys, trust all is well. For the PC version it was no big deal to install the HRP. I also had the orginal CDs for Duke 3D.

I am a newbie to the use of Apple's MacBook. I used steam to get Duke 3D Megaton. Is there a HRP for the Mac OS X Yosemite?

Many thanks,
Erik.
