Game is extremely laggy despite good computer

I have a desktop with 16 gigs of ram, the store page it has a requirement of 2 and yet the game is constantly stuttering even on the lowest resolution. I can barely play like this as it freezes so often... is there a reason for this and a way to fix it? I was so excited to play, the game truly looks beautiful :(

My pc is very basic: Ryzen 1200 no over, 8GB Ram, GTX 550 Ti 128 bits (weakest of all 550 Ti). Bu i can play this game with 60 FPS without signifcant frame drops and lag.

What is your GPU and CPU?

i5 -8400, 2.81 GHz, if that helps. It also has an SSD.

i really dont know why your game is lagging. Maybe you should try to verify the integry of game files. Try this:

From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files... button.
Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it looks like Brothers wasn't the only game that was problematic... the entire pc has broken down and refuses to start despite it having just been bought. At least this means once I return it for another I may finally be able to play this incredible game. Sorry for taking your time and thanks for offering help!
